Pool heater comes on and gas enters unit for about 5 seconds and then the gas shuts off. natural gas

This could be the flame sensor. If you can look into the firing chamber there should be a steel rod about 5" long that dangles into the gas fire jets. Turn off the unit. If you take the fire sensor out and gently rub it with steel wool and replace it, it may start working again. If it does, great, but order a new fire sensor and replace the old one when it comes in. They are very cheap.

Will not stay lite

probable wants a new thermocouple ( F F D flame failure device.)
or its not set directly in flame , or your flame jet is parsley blocked and the thermocouple is not hot enough to hold the gas valve open.
THERMOCOUPLES when hot generate a minute voltage that creates a magnet affect in the gas valve and holds it open if the thermocouple is burnt out or not set correctly the flame will not stay on . the black mark on your fire is a sign the gas is not burning correctly at that point causing ,may be due to oxygen
starvation , my suggestion is when the fire is off and cold give the part around the thermocouple a good vacuum to remove any build up of fluff /dust. if this does not work you need to get the thermocuple replaced and the fire serviced. good luck

On the error code list, I'm getting an error code of Open Rollout, How do you fix that?

a 'roll-out' safety switch it a small button looking device with a smaller tab/button sticking out of it, near the gas injection manifold. has 2 wires attached. the reset button is generally between these wires. it's designed to shut the unit off, by breaking the power circuit, if flame ignition causes fire to back flash out of the fire box. Press the little button and try relighting. if the roll-out pops again, and there was no roll out of flame, you made need to replace it.

Why does the flame shut off before a hot to warm temperature can be achieved

I would question the Thermo couple. It pretty much runs the whole show. Inexpensive quick fix. It's the small tubing that is connected to the gas valve. The other end is a bulb that sits over the pilot flame.. Remove the old and match it up at the hardware store. Install new coupler ensuring bulb is directly over the pilot flame Common iten. The thermocoupler alks to the gas valve. If the pilot flame extinguishes (goes out) the bulb cools and shuts down the gas valve so the pilot gas feed doesn't permit raw gas to accumulate, avoiding the need emergency Services. . You will not get the heater to fire until the bulb is good and hot. The red push button ,when depressed will allow the pilot flame to be lit. Hold it down until the heater fires, indicating the T-coupler has reached its operating temp.Good Luck-Ned

Patio glow outdoor propane fire pit does not stay lit

Fire pits motivated by gas. Need suffocation. A natural fire needs oxygen. Gas fires need suffocation. Take the wood or rocks and make it tighter over the gas holes. Meaning Pile the rocks on top of gasoline tighter or more generously so the gas and the flame are not coming out hitting straight oxygen. Give the fire something to hold onto. Natural fires need the opposite. Propelled fires need a sauna /steam room / hot rock type of relationship.

Pitco deep fryer flames coming out the fryer

Hi there.
The soot or carbon have probably build up inside the fire tubes, better check and have an authorized service technician clean them.
Make sure that the fryer is receiving the rated gas pressure and correct gas type as stated on the nameplate, this way, carbon or soot formation on fire tubes can be prevented

Hi My flame on a natural gas fireplace goes out 4 or 5 times until it warms up,having to re light all the time. Is this cause by a defective therma couple? Thank you Michel

well depends on what flame your talking about, and what type of gas heater you have as there are a range now and some work as following and some have two flames which is the pilot flame and the main burner flame. The pilot flame is what the thermocouple controls and the main burner depending on heater make and model is controlled by a thermopile or a thermocouple interupter block, and it also may be your flame sensor is not sensing flame fast enough till it warms up there are many flame controls that are in gas heaters around the world and the ones i service and maintain are a select few of the ones we sell and they all have different flame controls so i suggest and it would pay to get someone to have a look for you as a gas appliance and a qualified service agent would be your best option as he will know what to replace and how to do it safely, and most instruction manuals will have a service contact number for you

The heater is blowing cool air. The furnace blower keeps running and something ignites and then goes out immediately. any suggestions?

Clean or replace the thermo couple.

It must detect a flame a few seconds after the main gas valve opens or it shuts it down. Since you are hearing the burners fire up the ignitor is working and all the other safety circuits are working to allow the furnace to fire up.

The thermocouple is a small silver tube that protrudes into the flame of the main burners, remove it and scrub with scotchbrite pad or anything mildly abrasive. You just want to remove carbon and corrosion build up, re-install and see if it fires up.

I have two Goodman furnaces and if you are to maintain them your self you should keep on hand a thermocouple and a new ceramic ignitor. They will inevitably fail on the coldest weekend of the year and the only place to get them will be from a service company with a emergency service call ...$180.00 VS $60.00 off ebay or internet sales.

Also if your power vent fan is making ANY noise it is on its last legs and buying on in advance online will save you about $80.00 over the loca ldealers price......been there done that
