Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

I have a SVA 19" TFT LCD Monitor , Model # W9006S. Every so often there will be a box that appears in the middle of the screen that says " auto adjustment". Then it will switch to a yellow bow with blue bars on top and bottom. The top blue bar has a sun and it says "Brightness" The yellow box says 100%. I have tried to adjust the buttons underneath the monitor to no avail. I can't even turn the monitor off. The " auto adjustment " box would flicker for a few seconds and then go to the " brightness " box. Now it stays on the " brightness " box, which is right in the middle of the screen. How do I get this to go back to normal? I have restarted the computer and I also cleaned the buttons on the bottom of the monitor with a cloth to make sure they were not sticking. PLEASE HELP! Thank you very much Tammy

SOURCE: E173FP 17" LCD Monitor Problem

I have the same problem. It seems like a virus to me, but my anti-virus doesn't find anything. I went to the main menu on the moniter and changed the display time to five seconds and locked the OSD display. Now all the appears is a smaller box showing a lock which goes out in five seconds. It is still annoying, but less intrusive then before. Hopefully, some one will determine a permanent fix for this problem.

SOURCE: display problem

the adjustment box for colour, brightness and contrast stays fixed on the screen. i tried pressing the exit button.... after a few times it disappears only to reappear within a few minutes. also the auto adjustment option, for which we are supposed to manually press the i button, keeps auto adjusting the screen whenever it feels like it. the box appears right in middle of the screen and is a real nuisance as it blocks out the main portion.

SOURCE: Samsung SyncMaster 931BF 19" Monitor.

This is because your screen is not compatible with any resoultion past 1280 x 1024. Look at your screen's specifications here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200602/20060210090838125_BN59-00521A-01Eng.pdf (Page 76 listed as Maximum resolution)

If you want to go past that, you must purchase and/or use a different monitor. Just be sure to look at the Maximum Resolutions BEFORE you purchase a new monitor!

The power supply AC adapter power cord is the same as used for PC power cord, local PC repair shop should have them.

Monitor blinking off & on rapidly. Just started it out of the blue during use. Turned off computer over night. Still having same problem after re-booting this morning.

Open it up and look at the capacitors. The round "tin can" looking components. If the tops appear bulged, then replacing them may help. Check out the YouTube video... and web site...

Installed 19 in tft-lcd monitor on new vista computer, used dvi-d input, screen is flickering

You need to up the refresh rate. Your settings may be slightly different to mine but this is how I get to it:

  1. Right-click on the desktop, select Personalize, Display Settings.
  2. Click Advanced Settings, select Monitor tab.
  3. Change Screen Refresh Rate to the highest number that is available.

Monitor boots ok, then "Analog" appears/monitor shuts off

Does it have a digital port being used? If you are using the DVI port, it is probably digital. Try using the menu to selct the port. If it doesn't work, not sure from here. What is the model number?

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.
