Sir, hope you have more than 1 parttions in your hard disk. In such a case you need to only transfer the content of your c drive to other drives and formatting only the c drive and reinstalling windows would be easy because win is installed on on 1 drive and other drive are not used by win. and more impotant you should copy all your desktop content and 'my documents' to other drives cos after installing win you will have a fresh new desktop. And all your installed programs will be lost .

PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS

Hi

Transferring file from your computer to external hard drive is very easy, just copy and paste all the files you needed to the external hard drive.

Reinstalling Windows XP would be quite difficult. Make sure you have Windows XP installer CD and all the utility hardware driver of your computer e.g. Chipset driver, Sound driver, VGA driver, WAN driver, LAN driver and others. If you do not have the Utility drivers, just download the complete set of utility driver in the internet. Most of them are free to downloads.

Here is the procedure with video on how to reinstall the Windows XP operating system (step by step) http://www.fixya.com/support/r7410371-reinstall_windows_xp_or_installing_clean

Please rate and make a comment if you find this solution very helpful and might help others as well. Post more comments if you need more help.

Regards and thank you for using Fixya !

We have a Windows XP system on a 14 year old Dell computer.. We are desirous of transferring data from that system to a new computor. My husband purchased an Acomdata Hi-speed 2.0 external hard drive...

If both your Dell and the hard drive have USB ports you may be able to download directly. Other wise you may purchase an external drive and load the data to that. The external drive almost certainly will connect by USB.

Can I transfer downloaded games from my old xbox360 to my new xbox360

If your console was recently repaired or if you've purchased a new console, use the license transfer option on your console to transfer content licenses. Here's how:
  • On your console, sign in to Xbox Live using the gamertag that you used to purchase the content.Don't know your gamertag? See Download, move, or delete your Xbox Live profile.
  • Need to find your Microsoft account? See Find your Microsoft account.
  • Can't remember the password for your Microsoft account? See Recover your Microsoft account password.

  1. Go to Settings and select Account.
  2. Under Your Billing Options, select License Transfer.
  3. Follow the instructions to transfer the content licenses.
  4. After the licenses are transferred, you need to download the content again to update the local licenses. For information about how to do this, see Download content you've previously purchased.
After you follow these steps, content can be used by other profiles on your console and when you're not connected to Xbox Live.

Need to transfer files from old computer to new Hitachi 3 terrabyte drive

The need to transfer files from one hard drive to another is common when restoring from backup, to make more room on a drive by archiving files or to copy or move files to a portable hard drive. Whether the destination drive is an installed second or third hard drive or is a portable hard drive, the procedure to transfer files from one hard drive to another remains the same.

Plug the destination hard drive into the computer if the drive is portable, and confirm that the computer has recognized the hard drive with a pop-up acknowledgment message. Click the "Start" button then click "Computer" or "My Computer," and then double-click on the icon of the hard drive that contains the files to be copied. When a window appears displaying the contents of the hard drive, navigate to the location of the files to be transferred. Click on each file to be transferred while holding down the "CTL" key to select all files to be copied. Right-click on one of the files that has been selected and click "Copy" in the menu that appears if you wish to leave a copy of the files on the hard drive, or click "Cut" in the menu that appears if you wish to move the files instead. Double-click on the icon of the destination hard drive in the "Computer" or "My Computer" window to display the contents of the hard drive in a new window. Navigate to the location on the hard drive where the files are to be saved. Double-click on the destination directory to open the directory and then right-click on blank space inside the directory window and click "Paste" on the menu that appears. A window will appear and display the status of the file transfer and disappear when the file transfer is completed. Hope this helps.

Microsoft will not allow you to transfer any online content from on 360 to another. Its part of their anti-sharing efforts. You should be able to transfer all game saves, Gamerscore, and other media however.

Help transferring files from computer hard drive to La Cie

Well you can ONLY transfer/Move DATA as Programs and Documents & Settings and User Directories, cannot be shifted at all. So It is only the Files and Data that can be Moved off a drive. To gain space back, Right Click on the HDD, go to properties, in properties Under the general, tab the first window, select disk cleanup, remove everything in those boxes and after, that look under Tools tab, & do a disk defragment. This may get you space back. If not you may have to get a new bigger drive, and clone your old drive, then install the new drive and reinstall the Cloned image back onto the new drive?

Transfer all files from my old desktop to new laptop

you can do that by following the steps below;
Instructions
  1. Step 1 Connect your laptop to your desktop through a home network connection. If you have a home network, you can hook up your laptop to it via an Ethernet cable or a wireless network card. Then, you can set a folder on your desktop computer to be shared across the network. To set a folder as shared in Windows, simply right click on it, select "Sharing and security," select the "Share" tab and check the box labeled "Share this folder on the network." You will then be able to access this folder from your laptop and transfer files to your.hard drive.
  2. Step 2 Purchase a USB jump drive. These handy devices are the size of a key but can store five gigabytes of files or even more, depending on the type of USB jump drive you buy. Insert the USB jump drive into your USB port and your operating system should find it as new hardware. If a window doesn't automatically come up, you can find in your drives under "My Computer." Then, you can click and drag files into it, remove the drive and take it to your desktop computer and access the files there.
  3. Step 3 Put your files onto another external storage device, such a CD, floppy disk or external hard drive. Files are transferable between any computers as long as you can store them on something external, then use that external device to move them to the other computer.
  4. Step 4 Email files to yourself. If you only have a few files that you would like to transfer and don't have any of the equipment used in Steps 1 through 3, send yourself an email with the files attached, access your email from the other computer and download the files to your hard drive.
