Question about Televison & Video
If the problem is like the one in this pictures: Sony horizontal lines , then you have a defective LCD panel. Problem is discussed in lot of forums and it is known to technician Here other example.
Unfortunately there is nothing to do. The panel cost is over $1000, and Sony never issued a recall for the problem.
All you can do is calling Sony, complaining that you did not cause the fault, and stating that you used the TV according to manual. The phone person will probably tell you that there is nothing to do, and give the address of a repairman. At that point try escalating the problem to a "second-line" (pass to a manager). If you get someone with more decisional power than the regular first-line phone support person, then you can ask to get a part exchange versus the price of a new Sony.
