Question about Televison & Video
Are these lines thick and opaque or are you able to see the picture through them? If you can just get me a picture of the screen that would be great. You can upload it to imageshack.us and get me the link

This symptoms indicated of malfunction on the logic board, sustain boards, and/or power supply board. This is responsible for processing the image in your unit. Your unit is prone to bad connections in the said board. You must take it apart and check the cable connectors from loose connections. Pull-out all the cables from the main board, logic board, sustain boards, power supply board and then re-insert securely.
If the symptom still persist, first to check is the output of the power supply board feeding these boards. Once missing voltage from the power supply it will disable the other board and produced same symptoms. If you confirmed that the power supply is not the issue, then the fault now is quite technical and you need a copy of the service manual if you are going to DIY. This will guide you to the test point on that board.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the symptoms yourself, I would advice you to look for a qualified LG tv technician to isolate the symptoms.
Also check if your unit is still under warranty/extended warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Don't open the back cover because it will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
