SOURCE: My LG remote will not work
If you can see the remote flashing in the camera the remote is ok.
The problem would be in the Main board or I/R sensor of the Tv.
You would need service.

SOURCE: My Toshiba flat screen won't
Can you turn the TV usin g the power switch on the TV?
Testing remote control:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.

Testimonial: "thank you for the advice. I checked the remote as you suggested and it's working but won't turn the tv on and off...."
SOURCE: I have a mdl 26lc
I'm assuming that you are using the original remote, otherwise the programming on the universal remote might have been deleted and you will have to do it again.
You need first to find out if the remote is really dead: take the remote and a phone with a camera, go in a dark room, activate the camera, point the remote at the camera and press the buttons on the remote - if the screen doesn't light up whatever the button then the remote is dead. If the screen lights up then the sensor inside the tv is dead and it will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: Remote won't work. Tried new
To confirmed if the remote control is working fine, aim the remote control sensor(IR emitter) directly to your cellphone camera. While pressing any button key on the remote control, you can see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control if it is working fine.
If you've confirmed that the remote control emitted an infrared but still the tv won't communicate with it, this is an indication of faulty IR sensor board of the TV. Check if there's an obstruction from the IR receiver in front. Keep away all of it, clean the plastic window of the IR receiver with soft clean cloth.
If the symptoms still persist, you have to replace the IR sensor board. Check the actual part no. of the board before ordering.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.
