What menu path is taken to see lamp hours on XD490U

Please check the Lamp cover ,there is switch is connected thruogh lamp cover knoch /lever

To reset the lamp hour timer, navigate to the
Advanced Menu / Status / Service menu and select
Reset Lamp Hours..

Does the lamp ever come on if not then it is blown.

Possible that the cooling fan is not operating , the filter is clogged or there is fault on the power section/motherboard and so it trips off.
Need to probe within to confirm if you can check on the filters, the lamp door switch and the lamp seating.

Its because you projectors lamp have to replaced. It is notifying that you have to replace the lamp. if you wish to use the same lamp then you have to reset the lamp hour timer. it is recommended that you have to reset the lamp hour only after replacing the lamp. do the following for reset you projectors lamp hour.

(1) Press the MENU button to display a menu.

(2) Point at the ADVANCED MENU in the menu using

the up arrow/down arrow button, then press the right arrow button.

(3) Point at the OPTION in the left column of the menu
using the up arrow / down arrow button, then press the right arrow button.

(4) Point at the LAMP TIME using the up arrow / down arrow button, then press the right arrowbutton. A dialog will appear.
(5) Press the right arrow button to select "OK" on the dialog. It performs resetting the lamp time.

It sounds like your lamp may need replacing. Before you go that route try all of these:
-Make sure the lamp cover on the bottom is fully attached. -If you unplug the power cord while the fan is rotating, the lamp may not turn on about 1 minute when you plug the power cord next time. After the status indicator stops blinking press the power button to turn it back on. May have to press it multiple times. -If your Power Light continues to blink red/green then you should contact your dealer.

press the menu button on the front panel
while holding button on panel press and hold the menu button on the remote control
service menu will appear and then keep pressing the menu button until you come to lamp hour resetting
press ok on remote
and now lamp hour is reset

This is likely to be a heat issue of some sort. Please make sure that all of the airways to the back of the set are clean.

several reasons, it could be you havent had its 1000Hrs service and is overheating or filter needs cleaning or lamp is past its change time and is generating too much heat or sensor can sometimes come away and drop into light path causing false sensing of temp.
