You have to(carefully)pull the cable out of the housing. Be gentle and take your time because if you fray the end up it will be hard to slide back in. Feed it through the throttle end and then through the cable sheath and snake it back ti where it came from and re-attach. Good luck!

How to replace steering belt on zero turn toro lawn mower

if you mean a drive belt (not a mower belt) then im sorry to tell you your gonna need to remove the mower deck , this is only possible with help of a small crane or a stout tree limb and a bit of chain or cable (rope not good enough) , use a breaker bar to move off tension roller and fish belt around pulleys then let tension arm back down (four hands really make this easy) then lower machine back down onto cuter deck and make sure belts and pins line up right

Look, lower deck as low as it will go, look above deck, under the tractor and pull any pins holding deck to the control arms etc., and remove belt sufficiently to slide deck out from below tractor, I advise you to take pictures to make assy. easy.

I have a self propelled Toro walk behind that does not have a throttle control. Stalls out if grass is just a bit high. How/ where do I adjust throttle

Most new mowers do not have a throttle adjustment, the motor has a govnor that helps the motor speed up when the load requires it. The first thing you should check is that the blade is sharp which makes it easier to cut the grass. If the grass is still too high for the motor to keep up, it's usually easier to raise the deck (lower the wheels) so you are not cutting as much grass on each pass. Then lower the deck to where you want the grass height to be and make a second pass.

Toro 6.5hp 22" Recycler model#20072 Self-prpel

John, adjusting the cable would have been my first suggestion as well, there are two screws accesible from under the deck to get the black cover off (one of them is in a corner and may be hard to see). Once you get the cover off you may be able to see if you may have a tension problem, belt problem, etc. Goodluck!

How do you replace a drive cable on a toro recycler 6.5 hp.

Its a bit of a pain - but with ordinary tools, it can be done. Get the replacement cable first. You can see how the bottom spring wraps around the cable with a universal joint sort of arrangement. Remove the belt protector (three screws from the top deck; if you have a battery compartment, that will temporarily need to go. Release the old cable from the top and middle attachment points, then unhook the spring from the traction lever. You might need to destroy the old cable lock to the mower deck to remove the old cable. Remove the plastic cup next to the cable where it exits the mower deck. Replace parts in this order: New spring/cable to the traction lever, snap in plastic interface to mower deck, small plastic cup top cable attachment, then middle attachment. You might need to move the middle attachment after you give it a test run. Replace belt cover and battery compartment if necessary. A lot of steps but, except for a difficult fit to get the spring hooked up, nothing is really difficult. I paid about $30 for the replacement cable from a local dealer; Overpriced, but I wanted to get the job done today.

We have Toro Lwa 100 Lawn Mower Model #26623. Power engaged, start mowing but lawn mower will not cut grass. You have to stop and let it rev up again to cut more grass.

This 1991-92 model is equipped with a blade brake clutch. When the blade slows down this means the belt is slipping. This slipping can be caused from a few different things.
1 --A loose cable. barterjoe_0.gif
Try adjusting the blade cable on the upper handle. this unit has an adjustable section. make sure the cable is not so tight that you snap it.
2 --A sticky pivot point under the belt cover
The belt cover in the back builds up with dirt and debris. Make sude it is clean under the cover and all of the pivots move freely. ( do this with the engine off)
3 --A sticky belt tensioner under the deck cover
The underside of this machine has a metal cover to protect the belts. Remove it and check that the blade belt idler arm is not frozen in place. this will cause the belt not to enguage all the way.
4 --A worn belt or belt pulley
The large flywheel and pulley can wear. Check this if the belt looks good.
This is all there is to the machine BBC system.
I hope this helps.

I have a Toro zero turn commercial 60" model 74272 which throws the deck belt as soon as the clutch is engaged. I have replaced every pulley, spacer, spring, etc, as well as a new belt. Also, everything is...

im no expert but had a similar problem with an old craftsman mower. the belt keeper which is an L shaped piece of hardware located at the back of the deck next to the idler pulley spindal. Also could be the deck is cockeyed and needs to be leveled or the wrong v-belt.
