Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

My whirlpool velos convention microwave (model GH7208XR) has completely stopped working. I'm not sure how old it is as we purchased this house 6 months ago. No power is getting to it but the outlet it is plugged into still works. Is it possible that I blew a fuse in the microwave itself? Thanks!

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
This is a very common problem on older microwaves
Yes they do have a small fuse inside of them so all you have to do is to remove the screws on the back that are along the edges and also remove the screws on the sides then the cover will slide back about 2 inches then lift off .
the fuse is on the right side as you are looking at it from the front it is on a small circuit board and it is replaceable ok? Just ensure to get the exact fuse and replace it and reassemble it and test it out ok?
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Mike

Whirlpool Velos GH7208XR Convection works fine but microwave says door open and will not work on microwave. could it be door latch but then why does convection work?

I'd check the primary and secondary door switches for proper operation. Could be a failed switch, or adjustment issue on the switch assembly or door latching mechanism.

You also might have a failed thermal protector on the magnetron.

I have a whirlpool magic 1200 and it doesn't drain. Can someone help please

First, check the lid switch, the lid was probably dropped and it broke the switch. Next, disconnect the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged up. You could have a sock or something stuck in the hose that would stop the water from draining. After you do that, check the belt on the pump and then the pump to see if it is working correctly

Whirlpool model MH7100XYQ microwave, exhaust fan

sometimes the control board will short out and not let the fan or cook top light work.
if you want to try and remove the control board, look on the back of the board for any burnt off tracers. those are the wiring connections on the board that move power from a wire to a relay.
it is usually easy to see the burnt out piece, and if you can solder a new wire across where the burnt out part is, then it should work ok again.
if you cant solder, then a new control board will cost about 125-150 bucks.

I have a Whirlpool velos model GH7208XR Microwave oven. Can someone please tell me what the error code f3.h1 is and how I can fix it? I think it has something to do with a humidity sensor...Thanks!

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

There should be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

If you or someone you know decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Does the code appear all the time, only when you cook using a certain mode, or any time you cook, etc.?

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

GH7208XR Error Code #7

Behind the right front corner faceplate is a bag with the tech support info.
I used this and went through all the troubleshooting and got to the power inverter board. This board has the 2 red wires out of it that go to the magnetron. Instead of replacing the whole inverter module , I examined all the components on it. I found that there are 2 high voltage rectifier diodes attached to the transformer and 1 of them was not testing good. The diodes are UXC2B diodes.. Just clipped out the bad one and soldered in a new one.
Hope this helps..
