Alignng your Lexmark:
1. Load paper in the paper tray.

  1. On the control panel, press Mode repeatedly until Copy is selected.
  2. Press Options until MAINTENANCE appears.
  3. Press + until Align appears, and then press Select.

An alignment page prints. Once this page prints, your automatic alignment is complete.

This works on Lexmark Printers, if it doesn't let us know what model you have.

I replaced the cartridge for my HP C4250 printer/scanner but the alignment page did not print properly, so I did not get a proper scan page. Now it will not print at all. What next?

Hi,
A cleaning will fix the problem. To clean your HP C4250 > open a document (from the computer) and select print from the menu,
- In the print screen window select 'properties' Or 'Preferences'

- In the next window click 'maintenance'

- In the next window there will be many options to clean, align, nozzle check etc etc...

hope this helps, thanks!

The cartridges can also be aligned any time after you install the software. Aligning the cartridges helps ensure high quality output. Follow the steps to align newly installed cartridges.

I have a 5610 all in one printer and when I just put in the new cartiges it gives me an error message stating "Cartige not aligned".

Issue
The instructions displayed on the computer screen during the Print Cartridge Alignment are incorrect. If the printed alignment page is placed on the scanner glass and the Scan button is pressed as instructed on the computer screen, the all-in-one will beep and the control panel display will indicate Busy . The all-in-one will not align the print cartridges.
Workaround
The instructions on the printed alignment page or the all-in-one control panel display are correct. Follow the instructions below: Place the alignment page on the scanner glass and then press the OK button on the all-in-one to complete the print cartridge alignment.

hmmmm...assuming that the cartridge is installed properly, yes? seems that your black ink cartridge may need to go through a 'clean' process, prior to alignment(sure wish that the replacement folks would insist on cleaning out the old heads, before doing an alignment. It's like changing the oil on your car, but using the old filter. Same gunk still in the system.
