Check the document feed area to make sure there is no foreign material. If you find foreign material, carefully remove it. Lower the paper release lever then close the feeder cover. If documents remain in the ADF after pressing during scanning, [Document in ADF] will appear on the LCD. Press so that the remaining document is automatically fed out. When rescanning the document after clearing the error, rescans it from the first page. Open the Feeder Cover. Raise the paper release lever check for any paper jam under the roller to the Feeder Cover side. Now Lower the paper release lever then close the Feeder Cover.
If the above procedure doesn't work then just lift up on the ADF cover where the "Grasp" point is located. It is just a little difficult as it has a snap on each side to keep in locked in place durning normal operation. ONce you have it open all you can do from here is to check all of the rollers for any kind of paper jam or to look for any roller that looks out of place. Carefully rotate the rollers if you can and see if they turn up some more bits of paper. They may not rotate so don't force them. If they appears sticky or dirty, use just a damp wash cloth and wipe them off. Try and clean the full feed roller. Check the paper position sensor and verify that it can easily move and can detect paper in the ADF.
Here is the instruction on cleaning the ADF directly out of the Service Manual.
Follow this procedure:
1. Connect the power cord, and power on the machine.
2 Remove any paper from the Auto Sheet Feeder and Cassette.
3 Select the paper source with [Feed Switch].
4 Press [Menu] repeatedly until appears.
5 Use [Right cursor] or [Left cursor] to select .
6 Press [OK].
The machine starts cleaning the roller.
7 When cleaning has finished, repeat steps 3 to 6 for a total of two times.
8 Load A4- or letter-size plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder or Cassette and repeat steps 3 to 5 an
additional three times.

Once you have performed the above instructions, try to copy 2-3 sheets of blank paper. Also take a very close look at the position of sensor in the ADF to make sure it is detecting the paper in the correct position. If the problem persists then you have paper sensor problem.

Error message with canon mx410 "cannot scan from adf"

I fixed this by changing the Copy Intensity from Auto to Manual
I had the same paper jam (caused by pressing Stop during a page going into the ADF), but I had pressed OK as instructed and the page was auto fed back out again. Then I couldnt copy from ADF after that.
I tried everything, and then started to retrace my steps of all the things I might have tinkered with to try and get the copying working in the first place, before the paper jam.
Then I remembered I had set the Copy Intensity from Manual to Auto (thinking Auto is always best). With hindsight, it now makes sense for it to be manual with the ADF as otherwise how would it load a page, use it to set auto density, and then reload it again for the actual copy to occur. This happens okay on the flatbed scanner as it can scan a little, work out the settings, and then scan for real.
Copy Intensity is reached on my Canon MX from the Menu button at the bottom left of the front panel. - Then press the right arrow twice to get to Color Intensity. - Hit OK. - Then right arrow from "Auto" to "Manual Adjust"- Then pick a setting or leave it as half-way between light and dark- Press OK
Now every time my ADF copying works a treat. Thats what I get for tinkering in things I didn't need to change in the first place. I was just trying to get a quick copy going from ADF to paper without saving a file up on the computer and then printing.

Canon imageCLASS MF4350d paper jams

can you be specific, where does paper jams occures?

If in adf, try to clean the adf pickup rollers, if in cassette, open the printer and remove the toner cartridge, now you are able to see the pick up roller from the cassette and clean him with alcohol or water.

Hope that helps!

Paper jams when using the ADF. Canon IC D780

Hi there,

When using ADF
* Set a document on the Platen Glass if you want to scan it at optimum quality,
* The area (range) within 0.08"/2mm from the top edge if document cannot be printed since the machine cannot scan it.
*Do not load the following types of documents in the ADF. They will jam.
-Wrinkled or creased paper
- Curled paper
- Torn paper
- Paper with holes
- Carbon paper or carbon-backed paper
- Surface treated paper
- Onion skin or thin paper
- Photogragh or thick paper.
1) Remove any documents from the PLaten Glass.
2) Open the Document Tray.
3) Load the document in the ADF.
Load the document with the side you want to copy, or scan face up in the ADF.
4) Adjust the Doument Guides to match the document width.
Note :
Ensure that the edge of the document stack is in line with the Paper Size Mark imprinted on the Document Tray.

Hope this helps.
Please rate my response.
Have a good day.

I had a paper jam in my scanner a few months ago. I got the paper jam out. But now, when I try to scan from the ADF, the paper goes through fast and then stops half way through and an error comes up in...

There are sensors under the ADF which sense the movement of paper and the presense of paper. Either they are jammed or faulty. Clean them thoroughly.

Is it showing a paper jam? Did you look for any small piece of paper jammed in it or a paper clip? There are a few parts that may have to be replaced, like the paper feed rollers. Dose it try to pull the paper in? You might be looking at a costly repair if the service person has to change the drive motor or the main PCB. Sorry to bring bad news, but it may be some thing simple. I have had some that just did not want to be fixed. Good Luck
