One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket hope this helps

I boot up my computer which has a ATi x1650 PRO AGP 512, everything turns on including my video card (the fan turns on) and I get a no video input on my moniter I am using VGA cables to connect the...

The problem can be a few things. You could have a faulty motherboard, graphics card or monitor. if your computer has an on board video, I'd remove the ATi card, and try booting with that. if you have a friend that is willing to help, use their computer to swap the video cards and monitor. your looking to see if each component is working on it's own.
I also suggest writing down every step you take, may seem like it's not needed, but it'll help you if you need to post more info.

Note: Having fans turn on is not an indication that a card is working, just that power is being applied. It can cause a lot of confusion by overlooking some thing.

The graphics cards are actually integrated onto the motherboard and are unfortunately not inter-changeable like desktops. Your next option would be to purchase a new/working motherboard. Good luck!

The card was below requirements for the spore starter kit that i have.i removed some of my other games on my computer hopeing that would help.I am not sure what i need to do .can you help?

Normally, when they post minimum requirements, it is fairly close to the bottom line where it just will not work without changing hardware. If you are close enough that your hardware might work, you could turn all performance tuning off on your video card. Things such as antialiasing. go into the setting of you card. just right-click on your desktop like you are changing your monitor's resolution. then select the advanced tab. you video card should have a tab in that window that will let you disable all the advanced settings your card has available. change every setting that's Set to "software selects" and set them to their lowest setting. This might get you by, but it will be kind of rough visually.

Best bet would be to get a better card.

Which video card is right for my system?

you can upgrade your video card to a card of your chioce, however with a intergrated ATI chipset you would get better performance from a higher end ATI card to match, just make sure you change the primary video from PCI to PCIE in the bios settings.

please reply if you have further questions before marking not helpful
