No the capacitors probably is ok sounds like you have a big leak. You need to have a leak search and repair.

The freon on my Hyundai Sonata keeps leaking. I have taken it in 5 x in last month. Had new condenser put on last summer by dif mech. After 2 wks freon was gone. he didnt chnge orings. Cant find leak

the system has to have enough Freon to produce pressures to properly check for leaks. the entire system needs to be checked, lines, Schrader valves, condenser, all fittings, evaporator, compressor seals. there is a leak it just has not been found.

What is going on with our Goodman unit?

If your going to pay that much just have them put in a new unit. It is not that much more and you can get free financing. All the repairman can do is guess and keep putting in new parts till it works. Had a new unit put in and it still didn't work found out it was a bad thermostat. But at lest we don't have the repair bills or high electric bill anymore so it paid for its self in saved money.

Not staying cool

sounds like it is either low on Freon or the compressor is going out. The blowing ice cold is an indicator that it may be freezing up because the low Freon. when it stops blowing cold, turn it to fan only mode and see if it gets colder again. If that is the case then the unit is low on freon and freezing up. I know that sounds confusing but that is how AC works. The low freon pressure means the gas is expanding too fast and the air flow cannot take up the cold from the evaporator fast enough. Turning the compressor off and keeping the fan on will alow the room air to take up the cold.

I have central air and I was wondering how do you put freon in it because its not blowing out cool air

Is the compressor starting? On the outdoor unit you will see a large copper pipe and a small copper pipe. Is the larger of the two cold to the touch? wet? Just because a central air system is not blowing cool air does not mean it needs freon. If you have clogged filters it cannot do an air exchange. So, I would recommend checking the easiest things first before adding Freon. Most people make the mistake of adding Freon and overcharge their system. In a low load situation you can slug the compressor with liquid and your system is ruined. If you do have to add Freon it indicates that you have a leak. An AC System is a closed system and if it is working properly you should not have to add Freon.

Who to added R22 freon to my a/c condenser unit and what hose on my gages need to be connected to hight pressure and lowe pressure

the red hose connects to smaller line...usually 3/8's....the blue connects to larger that has black insulation. The yellow to tank of freon. The unit must be running to put in blue hose. If unit nit running put in red hose. Must be done by someone with EPA 68 license

This is a weatherking central air conditioner. Had been looked at by another person before me. Wasn't cooling right is all the information I had. When I walked past it one day (this is at a golf course), I...

Sounds like the compressor is tripping it's thermal safety. You say you turned the thermostat off and your head pressure climbed? I would check the contactor for stuck points that are leaving the compressor running continuously. BTW, you should have an EPA card before working with refrigerants. Call a tech to adjust the refigerant charge.

Central AC unit not cooling

If you have access to your piping system you may use a soap bubbles to test the pipe connection. the leak gas will blow the bubbles if there is leaking. But if your system is out off freon gas, you can not use this method. just try it check the connection first put the bubbles around it.

Central air freezing up

Low freon causes this problem. It could be the compressor going bad, but 99% of the time it is that the freon is low, have it leak tested and also have freon added

How long does it take to put a little R22 Freon in an Amana Central air unit

The manufacturers want you to let the system run for 10 to 15 minutes for the system to stabilize before adding freon. Then after adding it needs to balance out to check either superheat or the subcooling. Depends upon the metering device of the evaporator coil.
