Instead of Bule print DC12 prints Violet

Hi there! The blue color is becoming violet because the Cyan and the Magenta toners are not getting mixed in the proper 100:100 ratio (100% Magenta and 100% Cyan make CMYK Blue). Since the print is violet, the culprit is the Cyan toner. Now, first, get the Cyan Developer Assy checked if there is enough developer in it. If no, get it refilled by a proper tech and manually mix about 50 grams of the Cyan Toner with the developer. Also get the tech to check the trimmer gap on the Developer Assy with a metering gauge. If yes, next check the Cyan dispenser motor located on the backside of the Toner Housing Assy. It is probably broken and not dispensing any toner to the Cyan Developer Assy . Additionally, check for the Cyan Dispenser Auger blockage or jam. It is located under the Cyan Toner Cartridge in the Toner Housing Assy and also check the auger under the Cyan Developer Assy. After sorting these out, you should get proper CMYK blue from the 10th or 12th page once you resume printing.Let me know. Regards

I'm working on a Dell 5100cn printer. it came in with a yellow developer issue leaking toner. I replaced the yellow developer and cleaned the unit. In the process some of the developers were emptied to...

you have to do is remove all 4 hoses, the single electrical connector at the top of the frame, and then the frame will pull lose from the printer. If you do remove the developer frame, make sure you clean the ROS glass, this is actually the printhead, located behind the frame when removed and as well as other parts. Reopen the black cartridge, set it well and lock it completely. There is a cheap under the toner, make sure that it is not corrupted, if it is, then you should remove it out and replace it with old toner cartridge. If the problem still exists then you can check this web link :

My dell 5100cn printer is not printing red tones at all. Everything comes out in green tones. Has new toner cartridges and drum. What can I do?

The M6090 Magenta Developer is failing. It has lost it's magnetism. So the toner isn't ready to be transferred.

The Cyan Developer G6593 or Yellow Developer H6682 may be failing too, because it can't dependably hold all it's toner. One of those is probably bad too.

Dell 5100cn Black Developer Unit

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

You are right. The procedure was initially posted by Corysf62 on this problem. Excerpt from that post:
  • "The photo developers are located behind the imaging drum. you can see the 4 seperate developers, in the developer frame, when you remove the drum unit...You need to remove the top cover, the left side cover, the high voltage power supply, the supply tubes ( where the toner travels from the actual toner cartridges down to the developers ). Then once the tubes are removed, you have to remove the developer frame from the printer. Then you can get to the actual photo developer."
Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Color Faded

This sounds like a typical Developer Drive failure. The Developer Drive for color is different that the black developer drive. This is why black can print fine, but colors are faint or non existant. see below,a recent bullitin about this exact issue from Dell. ( the ROS, is the printhead, and is located behind the 4 developers.

Print Quality Issue
1. Problem: - Color images are extremely faint or not produced, but black images are produced without any problem.
Resolution: - Replace Developer drive assembly (H6702) and clean ROS Window/Glass.
If you chose to persue this repair, you can probably find a replacement developer drive by doing either a google search for the part number listed ( H6702 ) or an ebay search for the same. We can also provide you with removal and replacement instructions.

Good Luck

Dell 5100cn leaving line only on full color pages

There is more then likely damage to one of the photo developers. This is what transfers the toner to the imaging unit. The Developer frame assembly has to be totally removed in order to change one or all of the developers.

The only other posibility is that the printhead needs to be cleaned, however, in order to clean the printhead you would still need to remove the developer frame assembly to access the front of the printhead.

The only effect that the "non Dell toner" setting has is to raise the fuser temperature to the maximum. Since all toners are made up of ink and plastic, the fuser is what melts the fine plastic to the paper.

Dell toner is designed to melt at a lower temperature, however, since the non dell toners temperature value is unknow, this setting allows for that unknown.

In any case, neither of these things will cause lite, or faded print. In Fact, the toner cartridge for this model is actually nothing more then a toner storage device. Some cartridges contain the toner, the developer, and the drum. On the 5100 and the 5110 this is not the case.

The photo developers are located behind the imaging drum. you can see the 4 seperate developers, in the developer frame, when you remove the drum unit.

More then likely, if only the black is printing poorly, and the colors are printing ok, then the black photo developer is defective. This is a very messy job if you do not know what you are doing, and very involved.

You need to remove the top cover, the left side cover, the high voltage power supply, the supply tubes ( where the toner travels from the actual toner cartridges down to the developers ). Then once the tubes are removed, you have to remove the developer frame from the printer. Then you can get to the actual photo developer.

Good luck.
