Question about Kenmore 52632 / 52634 / 52639 Side by Side Refrigerator
Recently I had the start solenoid replaced on my fridge due to power outages and after I had it fixed and my ice maker has started working again the dispenser doesn't work. I had tried changing from crushed to cubed to free the auger but it does nothing. I am not sure if the motor is bad or it is just frozen up badly. Any tips you have would be great. Thanks in advance.
I don't know whether your power came back without surges or not but as marginal as our stuff is designed, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that the drive motor for the dispenser took a hit.
Our Kenmore ( by Whirlpool - a company I would avoid if it was possible) will allow the drive motor for the dispenser to run with the bin pulled out and it can be clearly heard running if it isn't being overshadowed by the crushing and rumbling of the ice cubes.
Examining the motor housing, it appears to be easy enough to remove so it could fall in the DIY range.
If you remove it, check to see if it is possibly individually fused; I doubt it but have not had mine apart.
It shouldn't be necessary to tell you but I don't know you either -

If you are in the US, check your phone book or look on line ( http://www.johnstonesupply.com/corp/Default.aspx ) for Johnstone Supply in your area. It calls itself 'wholesale' but I have bought from them for years and their pricing is waaay below what dealers will charge.
Typically, when I do a parts search, their prices are 50% or more below dealer prices.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Your selector solenoid is not working. Next to the auger motor there is a selector. You will see a plastic peice in a hole to the left of the auger.....Try to move it up and down. If it won't move it is more than likely frozen in one spot. Try to defrost it. If that does not work then replace the solenoid.
