Question about Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware & Firewall: Windows

1 Answer

I'm working on a Netbook with Webroot installed on it. When the owner went to update the software they got a Framework 966 error. It also says the software will be updated on reboot. Upon reboot the same error message appears. I've tried to uninstall the software both with the wizard and by using the control panel, no luck. I've brought the machine up in safe mode with the same results. Any ideas? Will the machine have to be redone? Thnx

I think that some of the data which you updated for your software fall into bad sector of hdd. First run a chkdsk via command prompt and then try to uninstall. In case it is not uninstalling then kindly download this software from the link provided below and uninstall the software. Re-boot the machine run chkdsk and then install and update the software.

Updating .net framework

The Microsoft .NET framework, sometimes called dotnet, is a collection of software libraries and assemblies installed on the Windows operating system.
Software languages that are .NET compatible will take programmer code and construct it into a language, called bytecode, which the .NET framework is able to load and utilize.
You will need to update your .NET framework if the application you want to use was built with a more recent edition.

Open your web browser and visit the .NET framework downloads page on the Microsoft website (See "Below").
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263.aspx
Click "Install It Now" and click "Download" to obtain the framework installer.
Save the file to your desktop, then double-click it to open the installation.

Review the software license at the top of the page, then place a check mark next to "I Have Read and Accept the License Terms." Click "Install" to proceed.
Click "Finish" when the "Installation Is Complete" window appears.
You have now updated the .NET framework.

Zune error

The error code 0x80070643 is related to Windows Updates (here, updates for Framework), therefore I suppose that your computer is not up to date and that the Zune Software is having problems to be installed due that.

So, for resolving this issue, there are two steps that I'd suggest you to follow:
- Install the Windows Updates needed as described in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976982
- Download the FULL Installation package for Zune Software and install it: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=206980

The Webroot Client Service must be running on your computer in order for Webroot software updates to function. If your updates are failing, follow the steps below to make sure the Client Service is started on your computer.
  1. Follow the instructions for your operating system.
    For Windows XP:
    1. Click the Start button, then click Run. The Run box opens.
    2. In the Run box type services.msc and press OK. The Services window opens.

  2. For Windows Vista or 7:
    1. Click windows_7_start_button.png or the Start button.
    2. Type services.msc in the Start Search box and press the enter key. The Services window opens.
  3. In the Services window, scroll down and locate Webroot Client Service.
  4. Right-click on the entry for Webroot Client Service and choose Properties from the menu that appears. The Properties box for the service will open.
  5. In this window, locate the Startup type. If it is set to Disabled, use the drop-down menu to change the setting to Automatic and click OK.

Hello there. To better understand your concern and isolate the issue, i will be asking a few more questions for troubleshooting.
1.What is the operating system on your computer? 2.When do you exactly get the error message,is it during the uninstall process itself? or is it during the reinstall of the software? 3.Is it configured to automatically scan your computer at a particular date and time? 4.Have you installed any other anti virus or any updates that you've made on webroot like the active notifications?

Error 643 after I try to install Netframework update

I had the same problem for months. Here's what I finally did to make it work: I went to the Microsoft Download Center and found that this update requires Service Pack 1.1 which I believed had previously installed since my system is set for automatic updates. However, as nothing else had worked, I tried it anyway. Sure enough, a dialog box came up notifying me that it SP 1.1 had previously installed BUT asking if I wanted to install it on the Net Framework 1.1. I allowed the install there, then began installation of update 929729, also on the Net Framework 1.1. It worked.

So i hope this will work for you too..!! Thanks..!!

And rate me if mine was helpful. Thanks

I would suspect your computer has a virus or has spyware or malware that is causing this. Restart your computer in Safe Mode and run Webroot and your other security software. If they find nothing then restart your computer and then go online and run this free scan. http://us.trendmicro.com/us/housecall/
