For ease, its probably best to go through the set up menu and set everything to auto. Details should be in your user manual.

If you don't have a user manual you can download one from here:-

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_g_series/powershot_s2_is

There are links on this page for downloading User Guides and software etc which you may need for your camera, so it would be a good idea to keep a note of it.

Finally, I've had a quick look at the site and there are no firmware upgrades to worry about.

Our Canon Power shot A95 is used to take close up photos of jewellery ,with a white background. We have been useing the TV mode with the MF to focus.Howerev the pictures are over enposed, what can we do to...

Instead of shutter priority "Tv" mode, try setting to program "P" mode instead. Also, turn off the flash, and set to macro if shooting close-in (press downward on the little flower icon on the back disk). If pictures come out blurry, try using a tripod to hold the camera steady, or set the camera down on an object so it doesn't move while taking the shot. Try using the timer to activate the shutter to allow the camera to remain even steadier for the shot.

Why is my Cannon Power Shot SD1000 no longer taking clear pictures? It use to work beautifully, but now the pictures are always blurry! I always get the little red "crab" in the bottom left...

Probably the image stabilization going out and just needs that part of the camera replaced. Try this site: www.camerasandparts.com They just service the Canon Powershots exclusively and they do terrific work on these cameras. If you need to have it serviced, they're the place. It runs $79 for parts, labor and shipping back with their flat-rate service packages. They're about half of what Canon wants and they do excellent work on these models. Good luck with it, that's a great camera that is known to take very good pictures.

Took pictures of sons prom and pictures are blurry blown up, why??? I believe I shot them in sports mode....

Sports mode is meant for constant or fast movement. Its used mainly for sporting events.

The mode you should keep it in is Auto. In this mode you will see that there will be no blurry pics.

I have a Canon PowerShot S2IS that gives me a black screen and a "change batteries" message even with new batteries. Is there a way to re-set or re-boot the camera?

Try cleaning the battery compartment contacts with a cotton swab "dampened" in rubbing alcohol. Also clean the battery contacts and the charging station the same way. Thanks, Dana

My screen shows a blurry picture and it takes a blurry picture. it didnt used to. what is wrong? how do i fix it?

I have the exact same problem. When I was in NY last fall, suddenly my camera would only take blurry pictures. I hadn't changed any settings or anything. I can get halfway decent pictures in Auto mode, but any of the other settings only take blurry pictures. Apparently a lot of people have this problem, but no one knows how to solve it...
