Hello,

Press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds and this should shut down the computer. If not, you may want to switch the power supply on the back of the computer to off to shut the computer down.

my problem hasnt been solved, I cant log in because the pointer has ceased.

Turn the computer off, remove the mouse and replug it back in. Turn on the computer and see if the mouse works. If not, try using a different mouse or use the mouse on a different computer. If the mouse does not work on another computer then we know the mouse is bad. If it does then we narrowed the problem down to the computer.

Well it sounds like the computer is just freezing up..What did you do before the problem started? Did you install any software? If so, you can boot into safe mode and do a system restore to a point before the problem started. To do this, as the computer is booting keep pressing the F8 key and you should get a menu. In this menu, choose Safe mode with Network. Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools and choose System Restore. Depending on your version of windows system restore could be under Administrative tools and not accessories.

Frozen pointer on my laptop , carnt even log in

Most likely problem is the connector on the mousepad. try and use a USB mouse first to eliminate the mousepad from the equation. if the pointer moves with a mouse then you have solved the problem. If it doesn't you have a bigger problem- either Virus infection or Operating System failure.

My compaq presario v2000 built in mouse is not moving while the external mouse is working what do I do to fix this problem

alright, so you're saying that the touchpad ceases to function when you have the external plugged in? that is probably normal behavior set in the mouse settings in control panel, if you're saying it's not working at all there should be a button to the right of the touchpad that is used to enable and disable that device.

You can disable the mouse pad or even adjust the sensitivity of the pointer by going this way

click start > control panel > hardware and sound > mouse > adjust the speed or disable touchpad

Cursor runs all over the screen w/o moving hp wireless mouse

Your mouse could be defective, but let's try a few things first. Try to remove any wireless devices close to it (i.e. wireless router)or try to plug it in a new USB port. Last thing try to use a very dark mousepad. The laser respond to reflection so any white on a mousepad combined with some sun light could result in a free for all mouse pointer.

Pointer locks up on the desk top after a power outage

Tried a different mouse? Maybe the power outage fried it. pc2 mouse? If it the wirring is fried or the mother board for the mouse is fried then you could purchase a USB mouse if you have an available port.  Finally download the mouse driver and reload it first.   Any more questions please ask. Thanks

Computer will not respond to any commands

Make sure that the keyboard and mouse wires are plugged in the appropriate ports, if it still won't work, try switching keyboard and mouse. If it still will not work I would call the factory and try to have it shipped back because it could be blown ports.

I hope this helps some.

It's not working right....

The BenQ M310 mouse needs to "sync" with the USB receiver. Need to push the two buttons at the same time, or maybe the one in the mouse first then push the button in the USB receive so the two can "sync" to each other. This may solve this problem. Good luck!
