Question about HP Pavilion dv8315NR Notebook
First I think you have a bad battery...this is usually why the battery wont charge or the machine wont turn on when you have the battery in. So I would look into replacing the battery.
I think for the slowness you can definitely do a restore to factory settings to help clear some of that up. The link here: http://www.pctechbytes.com/hp/hp-recovery-cd-creation Should give you some info on creating restore disks for your HP machine.
NOTE...be careful and BACK UP your data and test it. a restore will wipe out all your programs and data and set your machine back as if it was the day you brought it home. Make sure you have backups.
