My Xerox 550 is printing some black lines all over, how do I solve this problem?

What causes black lines on paper when printing?
Usually streaks or vertical lines are caused by empty toner cartridge or toner itself is damaged. It's also due to a dirty pick up roller or paper path. You can contact HP Tech Support so they can replace your printer

Odds are that you will need a new OPC drum & drum cleaning blade for the black lines > you may also, need a new primary charge roller & it also, depends if the black lines or marks may be coming from the fixing unit..... There are a lot different cause's.... Good Luck

Black marks on the printing

You could have a build up of ink on your rollers, and as the paper is pushed through it is leaving marks. It could also be causing your ghosting effect or double lines. By having your printer cleaned by a certified technician it should reslove your issue.

Our copier has lines everytime we copy anything..our church needs to know how to stop it and not have to call repair person.

if it occurs when you make an internal print like printing a status page then call a tech... if it occurs from the document feeder and/or from the glass table.. then look for black marks, white out, ink, staples or paper on either one... these can show up as black lines... when you are making copies... you can generally chip away at them with your nails or a flathead screwdriver... be gently or you could scratch the glass...

Yes this could be the drum.

You could remove the drum and carefully look for the pattern of dots etc that you are getting on the page but on the drum surface.

I would suggest replacing the drum 1st and retrying.

If the black lines are just down one edge then the fuser could be to blame for the black marks but without being able to see the page i cant tell. The drum is certainly my 1st suspect and is easy for you to try.

Black Lines

Do the black lines only show up when useing the adf???? Or do they show up on both the adf and the copyboard glass??? If it is only when using the adf...... The fix is easy.... you have to clean the smaller piece of glass that is to the left of the copyboard glass with windex or rubbing alchola. If it is with both you may need a new drum and blade or a new ufr... Good Luck

Black lines on photo

Are the lines always in the same places? If they are, then I would try using different photo paper. Humidity plays a big factor when printing with any kind of paper and buying new paper would be a good start. Make sure that the paper is made for your printer specifically. You might also try printing on plain paper to see if you get the same results.

When coping I have a black line down the left side of the page. This only happens when I'm copying NOT when I'm printing off a document from Word or the Internet on my computer. How can I get rid of this black line?

I'm assuming this is a copier/printer ???
I'm assuming again you are using the doc feeder on top
i'm going to assume that it does not do it when you put it on the glass itself, correct?????

When i print i get black stripes some printing but areas where there miught be color big black stripes. another time the entire page was black ink.
