Go to your local Radio Shack. They have all the adapter cables you would need. It depends on the speaker what cable you buy. PC speakers use a 3.5mm male connector in which case you would buy nothing. Just plug into the CD player's earphone out jack. Other speakers may use wires so you would buy the appropriate adapter cable from Radio Shack or other electronics store. It can be done.

How do i fix my cd player

How to Fix a Car CD Player

Simple Troubleshooting

Before you decide to open up the player and attempt more invasive repairs, try some of these more basic troubleshooting tips to figure out how to fix a car CD player:
  • Is the problem related to the volume or quality of the sound? This could be related to the speakers and not the main unit of your audio system. Take the time to remove the covers from the speakers in your car and make sure there's no trapped dirt or damage. Also check the electrical connections on the back to make sure they are still firm and make a good connection.
  • If the speakers look fine, another issue that could affect sound is the quality of the connections behind the head unit of your system. You'll need to open the dash to access the unit (see your owner's manual or an auto repair manual for your car). Make sure all channel (speaker) connections are solid and make good contact.
  • When you insert a disc, is the CD display blank? While it sounds simple, one of the most common mistakes people make is inserting a CD upside down. This will cause the player to act as though it isn't working.
  • Is the music skipping or stopping completely? This is commonly caused by dirty or damaged tracks on the disc. Before assuming that the problem is with the player, test a few newer CDs and see if the skipping behavior continues. If it doesn't, the the problem is the disc and you'll need to look into cleaning or repairing the disc so that it can play normally again.

How do I re connect my equipment after a move?

Your input's that you need to use are labeled on the rear of the chassis. Make ALL of your connections with the power cord unplugged.
The connection types for each component that you'd like to use are also labeled. For the CD player you may see such connections as coax, optical or L&R...you need to only connect one type. What's available depends on your receiver. For a cassette tape player however there will be only L&R, connect from the L&R outputs of the player into the L&R input on the receiver.
For your speakers, you have a couple of options depending on what you have connected to your speaker cables but the most important thing is getting the polarity connected properly. Not all speaker cables are color coded for polarity but instead have a marking on the insulating sheath along the entirety of it's length or may simply have one silver wire and one copper wire. You only need to make sure that the polarity of the connecting terminals between the receiver and speaker match; having the cables marked is only to make that connection easier...just connect one wire at a time, and make sure that your speaker placement position also matches the terminal you're connecting to.

Did you make sure you have no shorted or grounded speakers or speaker wires? Make sure you don't have a bad speaker also. If everything checks out, you may have a bad internal output ic.

I connected a after market stereo in 2000 yukon the stereo turns on but no sound comes out and the stereo good what might be the problem?

If you got the stereo used the speaker wires might not work. I stereo only puts out sound thru the RCA output using an amplifier.

Connecting to speakers

There is no built-in amplifier on your cd-player so you cannot connect speakers directly to the CD player unless they are self-powered(like the speakers for a computer) so you will need to connect the red and white rca jacks to the television's audio input jacks, an external stereo reciever, or self-powered speakers to get sound from the cd player.

When volume is turned up the radio shuts off

Have you checked all of the connections on the speakers, stereo, etc. Being a marine CD player, the wires and connectors are exposed to more elements than a car CD unit. Check for corrosion and make sure that all the speakers are hooked up to the correct "+" and "-" terminals. Not sure if this will help, but thought I'd try. It does sound like a speaker connection problem.

I want to connect a tiny mp3 player to one of those portable CD players with speakers (it's a cheap AWA brand) using the USB plug - but the portable won't recognise it. What am I doing wrong?

u can't connect those two because they use two different kind of digital frequencies. So don't try it! You may end up burning out One of the USB ports on the players

NO DISC ERROR

Sounds like a dirty or failed laser or DVD mechanism /drive.

Try a DVD/CD lens cleaner (must say both). If you can, try wet & dry version with alcohol based cleaner - Alsop are a good brand.

If this doesn't work, the drive has likely failed. Its unlikely to be economical to repair - but you could always connect a cheap DVD player to the Sony system - the sony system can then continue to provide surround sound audio, whilst the cheap DVD player plays the discs!

Otherwise - sell the system as separate parts (speakers, remote, cables, DVD player) as someone is bound to be desparate for the speaker set on its own to complete a system and will often pay more!
