If you had the same problem you would know that the only way to access the fan on this laptop is to unsnap the plastic section over the power button, remove the keyboard, and then unscrew the fan from the top. I have this problem and I tried cleaning dust out of it but it didn't help.If im doing anything important i just prop the laptop up on a book and have a desk fan blowing in the back. Have looked up buying a new fan but it seems that the fan isnt faulty, just not powerful enough so a new one is unlikely to be any better. Great laptop apart from this stupid problem though.

I had the same problem. I took the bottom of the laptop off and cleaned the fans, you should find that it'll sort the problem out. Also make sure fans aint covered when on it.

Advent 7106 - how do I turn on wireless connection as there is no switch and f2 button not responding.

If you look closely at the F keys, one of them has an aerial icon. Press that or you may need the function key pressing at the same time.

Advent Problems

I am assuming you are using Windows XP for this solution,
Go to 'start', click on 'Connect To'. If another menu comes up to the left of this then right click on 'Wireless Network Connection' and click 'Enable'.
If a window opens up then the solution is the same process as above.

If this is already enabled then you may need to reinstall the driver go to Advent's website and search for your model number

Why does my computer keep shutting down?

Is Windows crashing or is it just shutting down without warning? If it is without warning, then I would suspect a failing power supply. May want to look at getting a replacement power supply.

Dvd drive keeps faultering solve this

Most likely, the DVD laser sensor is dirty.
1. Use a can of compressed air ($6) to maybe clean it enough to work.
2. Obtain a DVD drive cleaner kit from Radio Shack (maybe WalMart) ($12).. it is a disc that has a tiny brush on it.
3. You have to "play" the CD/DVD through "track 04" - Read instructions carefully.
This will work.

It could also be dirty DVD discs (not likely)
1. Clean the DVD disc with a lens cleaner wipe (like for eyeglasses)
2. or clean your hands when eating pizza and watching a DVD movie.

Hope this helps!

Laptop screen keeps going fuzzy!

The display connector contact on the motherboard is loose. If you can open the casing, you'll see a ribbon cable from the LCD part connecting to the motherboard. The connector is usually rectangular and connects downwards. Try pressing it in firmly.

Sounds like it might be getting over heated. You will have to clean out the cooling system.

Advent laptop overheating

Check the jack on the machine to see if it's loose or broken. Use a small screwdriver, and see if you can move it in any direction. If it is loose or broken, get it fixed imediately. A loose or broken jack can create an electrical arch which can do severe damage to the machine.
