I need to reset my cash register, model is Towa NT-1204. There are 4 black buttons next to where the keys are & I don't know what they're for?

I have no need to re-program I just want to be able to use the register to add, calculate change & to hold money. A simple cash register. Can you also tell me what the different key positions are for & which position it should be in to use it as I mentioned?

Welcome to FixYa!
Initial reset>key to P and power off for 5 seconds. Clears errors. Do the same with CL button held down for memory reset. To clear any sales data it might be better to take Z reports and to clear the Z counter.
Z Counter reset key to p 24 X/TIME 0000 [CASH TEND] 25 X/TIME 0000 [CASH TEND]
date and time program 1 X/TIME YYMMDD [CASH TEND] 2 X/TIME HHMM [CASH TEND]
flag programming 1 PO 6 CASH SUBTOTAL [sets decimal point] 2 PO 2 CASH SUBTOTAL [date format] 4 PO 1 CASH SUBTOTAL [nrgt off) 0 leaves on 21 PO 0 CASH SUBTOTAL [drawer open]
departments [ENT PLU] 0500 DEPT (sets limit of 999.99 to this department, 4 = 99.99etc)
clerk password 26 X/TIME 1234 [CASH TEND] sets clerk 1 to 1234 (example) 27 X/TIME etc for clerk 2
To use clerk enter the code and press EC
Program check. Press cashtend when in P mode
Note: This is from my old notes but should be accurate. I'm afraid it's hard to find a manual for this because this is already an old model but I'll keep you posted as soon as I find one.

Setting the time on a towa fx400 cash register

You need the programming layout from the manual. It shows where the ENTER, DSGN etc keys are during programming. If you need one, checkout tech has one

Date&time on et 5616 towa

Hi Reggie,
Towa registers have special programming codes. That is such an old model that codes won't be on the net. You would need to get them from the manual. Try this one:

That's an older model now. I can't find the settings. There is a manual on the net that I found though. It says it has date and time programming. Hope this helps http://the-checkout-tech.com/manuals/cashregisters/Towa_NT-2324_and_Geller_NT-2324_Operation_and_programming_manual.html

My towa ax100 cash register get error E3

This means you have not finished a transaction. It normally happens when you try to turn the key before you finish. Try turning the key back to where it last was and finish what you started in that mode before turning the key to another mode.
