If this does not resolve the issue , Reset the All-in-One.
Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

allright, i had two and i just cut one in half, there's no inner ink reservoir -the body of the cartridge is itself the container. so you can just buy a refill kit (mine is the NCR Universal black inkjet refill kit) it's about 10 bucks at the local walgreens and it comes with a little hand drill and the tape to seal up the hole. the process can be a little messy, so be sure and do it near your more valuable textiles. what's cool about these kits is that they carry about as much ink as you'd find in 8 cartridges, so it'll save you about 75-100 bucks. and 4 or 5 trips to the computer store. Some other cartridges, made for other printers, have a little sticker that you peel back to reveal a hole already drilled -and, what's more if you're impressing one of your inkless friends, be sure and pack some new tape in your bag before you go over there and ink up the guts of their printer.

SOURCE: 8250 HP INK EXPIRED MESSAGE
I had same problem, and i solved it.
I opened my hp 8250 and removed it`s battery. It is located on left side of the printer, on the main board. You need to remove plastic covers , and then remove 3 screws holding board. You can move board just enough to get damn battery out of there. Now it works perfect!
I can send you some piccs if you need help.

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.
