SOURCE: c43 stylus does'nt print while red and green lights stay on

If the light are flashing, it mean waste ink full. You must clean waste ink pad, and reset the counter. You can use SSC, find at indoreset.blogspot.com. But,.. you said the light are on. try to resinstall driver. after printer recognised by comp, check status monitor. Green light on is power on, and red on mean chip error/ink out error/cartridge error.

SOURCE: Brother MFC 5840 won't print red. ink is full. printer head clean

If the regular cleaning does not work, you can try the power purge. Perform it by doing the following:

  • Press Menu, 2, 8, 6, 4 quickly (within about 1-2 seconds from the menu-press, all five buttons should been placed, in order).
  • The display and some buttons should start flashing, and it should say "Maintenance".
  • Press 7, 6.
  • It should say "CLEANING ALL", press right arrow key until you get "CLEANING MAGENTA" or similar.
  • Press 3, it should now change to POWER_P or P_PURGE. Press Mono/Black Start.
  • The display should say "Cleaning", when it's done, it will say Maintenance again.
  • Press 99 and you will leave Maintenance mode, you can now try and see if magenta works again.
If it doesn't work, you'd probably need chemicals to clean the ink tubes. But, this power purge should work.

I replaced the black ink and the error light is on and the out of black ink light is still on. Won't print

Try it.......

Remove the print head and soak it for three 5-minute cycles in hot (~170 F) distilled water about 3/4 inch deep with continuous mild agitation. The first soak quickly turn the water black, the second end with the water a dark grey color. The hot distilled water dissolved the dried ink in the small ink passages from the cartridges to the ink ejection part of the print head.
Carefully dry the print head as per instructions, clean the electrical contacts on the printer, and placed the print head and the ink cartridges in the printer.Turn off the printer, then unplugged it for one minute. Then turn it on...and print an alignment sheet...

Prints color badly won"t stay

Hi w0rtm,

To correct this issue you need to clean the print head. Please follow the steps below.

1. Press the "Power" button to turn the printer on. Wait for the printer to fall silent, indicating it has finished all of its warm up.

2. Load letter size plain paper in the printer's input tray if none is present. Hold down the "Resume" button until the printer's power light flashes once, and then let go of the "Resume" button.

3. Wait for the printer's power light to stop flashing, indicating the printer has finished cleaning the print head. Print a nozzle check sheet by holding down the printer's "Resume" button until the power light flashes twice.

4. Examine the nozzle check printout, looking for missing or broken lines in any of the sections. If you see problems with the printout, run the printer's cleaning program again and then print another nozzle check pattern.

If this does not work, please try these.

1. Turn on the printer.

2. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of your computer's desktop. Click "Control Panel." Choose "Printers and other Hardware." Select "Printers and Faxes."

3. Double-click the "Canon i550" icon. Click "File" in the main menu, scroll down and click "Printing Preferences." Hit the "Maintenance" tab.

4. Click the "Cleaning" button. Select "All colors" to be cleaned and click "Execute."

5. Click the "OK" button.

6. Print a sample page and examine whether the quality has improved.

7. If the quality has not improved, repeat Steps 2 and 3. Click the "Deep Cleaning" button this time. Select "All colors" to be cleaned and click "Execute." Click the "OK" button.

If still encountering the same issue, please uninstall and reinstall the unit's driver.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

WE HAVE A KODAK ESP-3 AND HAVE PUT IN NEW INK (BLACK) AND IT WON'T PRINT. THE COLOR SHOWS EMPTY BUT IT'S ALSO NEW. ONLY WANT TO PRINT BLACK BUT IT WON'T PRINT EITHER JUST SHOWS LOW INK ETC.

First: you need both ink cartridges for the printer to function properly.

Second: You may have a bad printhead, do the following:

Clean the print head then print a demo sheet.

  1. Verify that inkjet paper is loaded in the paper trays.
  2. On your desktop, start the KODAK All-in-One Home Center, then select the Help [?] icon.
  3. From the Help menu, select Maintenance, then select Print head Cleaning. The On/Off light flashes green during the cleaning procedure.
  4. When the On/Off light glows a steady green, press Photo and Copy simultaneously to print a demo sheet.

If the Demo print is bad- IE: no black, blurry print etc., then you may need to replace the print head:

Hi I am not getting any Red from my printer

It's possible magenta ink to be finished, or the print head is dirty and it has dry ink on it. You must clean it with hot water. You must use the printer from time to time to avoid to dry the ink cartridge or print head.

Printer prints out blank pages

Follow these steps:

1. Load a few sheets of plain paper in the sheet feeder.
Turn off your printer.
Hold down the paper button as you press the power button to turn the printer back on. Hold down both buttons until the power light begins to flash, then release the buttons.

The printer prints its test page, which includes a nozzle check. Does the paper print out without any gaps or with gaps? If there are do this:

2. Load a few sheets of plain paper in the sheet feeder.
Make sure the printer is on and the ink light is off.
Right-click the printer icon in the bottom right corner of your screen (the taskbar) and select Head Cleaning.

Follow the on-screen instructions to start the cleaning cycle, which lasts about 1 minute. The power light flashes throughout the cleaning cycle and stays on green when the cycle is finished.

Caution:
Never turn off the printer during a cleaning cycle or you may damage it.

When the power light stops flashing and remains on, you can check to see if the nozzles are clean. Click Print Nozzle Check Pattern and click Print. Check the printed nozzle check pattern to see if there are gaps in the lines.

If there are no gaps, click Finish.

If there are gaps or the pattern is faint, click Clean to clean the print head again.
You may need to clean the print head up to 4 times. You can also turn off the printer and wait at least 6 hours. Then try printing again.

If this doesn't work then double check that you have the toner cartridges in correctly. If you do then your print head is broken and/or burned out and it's best to just replace the printer. Fixing it would cost more than the printer itself

My mfc-240c won't print red, even with a new cartdrige.

Try running a few cleanings on the color.

Press the ink button and select cleaning,, do about five cleanings. Print the ink quality test page (from the ink button as well) and see the quality if it improved.

If it still doesnt print its possible the ink is clogged and may need servicing to replace the printer head
