You will most likely find that your camera will work with cards up to a certain capacity e.g. 2gb
and not with cards of higher capacity. What this means in effect is that high capacity cards are not compatible with your camera. It would be interesting to know the make and model of your camera.

    Hullo sivakevryn,
Thanks for the new information it helps a lot. You stated that one message you got was that the card is in read only format and that explains the situation.
The memory card has a small slider switch on the left side (holding the card facing you).
You will probably find this is in the down position. Slide to the up position and all of your problems should be solved.
It is easy to inadvertently move this slider without being aware of it and that causes problems such as yours.

How to unlocked pny optima sd memory card 4gb

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Have brand new PNY OPTIMA SD HC 8gb Have a HP camera Photosmart R927 Camera reads card is locked. How do I unlock the card?

Hello

OK, if the memory card itself is locked, you might sometimes get this error code. All you need to do is to take out the memory card and switch the lever on the left side to the unlock.

6c99e31.jpg

If the error is still displayed after you did the above, you might want to try the card in another camera.

If the card works in another camera . the problem is with your card reader in your camera.

If you open you sd slot and look inside with a sharp light , you should be able to see on the left side of the slot there is a little copper or spring steel lever switch. This switch work as follows:

1. When no card is inserted / no write protection , the switch is open and thus the protection is off.
2. When locked card is inserted , the tab is depressed and tells the camera that the card is lock.

Contrary to popular belief ,the little tab on the sd card is not an electronic switch and does not physically influence the card operation itself. If you put a locked card into a camera without a sd lock switch , you would still be able to use the card normally.

It is incredible difficult to fix this switch because of space limitations in the sd card. Look into the sd slot and if you can see the switch , use a needle to pull the little tab down toward the base of the camera by about 2mm or until it works being careful not to bend it.

If this does not resolve your problem , there might be a short in the switch circuit and the camera will need to be disassembled to resolve this error. This should cost no more than $50.

Please feel free to contact me if you need further information

Kind regards
Andrea

I HAVE A DXG DIGITAL CAMERA. WHEN I HOOK UP THE CAMERA INTO THE VIDEO INPUT THE PICTURE IS ALL JUMPY & UNCLEAR

Here's my problem: I recently bought as in today a PNY Optima 16 GB SDHC Card for my DXG-566V camcorder. When I inserted the card into it's SD card slot (which I assure you I did correctly), and powered up the camcorder, the camcorder didn't recognize the SD card, as it was still running off of the camcorder memory! Now I know the camcorder is just fine becuase after that I inserted my PNY 8 GB SDHC Card and the camcorder recgonized the card.
Please help me out here!

I have a kodak M1033 camara with a SD HC PNY optima 240 HD 16 GB and the camara says internal memory is full and is only 1/2 minute video in the camara please help

Hi!
Sonds like the camera hasn't switched to the memory card. Go to setup and set memory to Auto not Internal. If that doesn't help, it's possible that the camera doesn't support 16GB card, but it should give you a card error then, so check the memory settings first.

pny does not supply card readers w/memory cards-sandisk on certain cards includes reader because file format is different on sdhc cards -try downloading direct from camera w/usb or get a card reader that absolutley supports sdhc type cards-not all readers do!
