Why does my washer (maytag mah5500bww front loader) make noise during the wash/rinse cycles but not during the spin.?

The noise could be from a loose wire harness, plastic purse-lock wire harness retainer on the upper hose hitting the top cover ir a plastic injector mold standoff on the outer tub bearing housing, also a flat spot in the belt could cause a tapping noise. Something between the outer tub and wash basket. I have had to remove items lodged in the drain tube between the pump and tub, like bra under wires. Sometimes you can squeeze the tube and feel objects the ate lodged. I always take the tube off the tub side and run my finger all the way down to the pump impeller to make sure. I also check the I can spin the impeller and the nothing is in the pump. Hard to say with out being there. Where do you think the noise is coming from top , bottom , left , or right side?

My Maytag Neptune MAH4000AWW sounds like a train during the spin cycle. Are the bearings replacable

It is so common that the washing machine can make terrible noise in many ways and is a common fault. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that machine is vibrating when it is running then the motor /drum suspension has to be inspected. Since these fittings are located on the underside of the machine it is important that you look for the noise with a good inspection lamp. Manually turn the motor and drum and listen for the noise, if so the motor bearings, the drum agitator shaft and fittings must be checked. Also the suspensions which include the shock absorbers and springs, the body clamps must be checked to be in correct alignment and not changed in position. Tightening of the mounting is also very important. Finally in most cases a drop of OIL or smear of grease on the moving parts cane solve most issues.

There is loud noise at rear of machine when in the spin cycle llike a bearing dragging or such. But the tub spins easily??

could be the bearing. does it sound like a freight train when the machine is in spin cycle. if your machine is still under warranty or contract, call it in for service. if its not, then you might want to think about purchasing a new machine.

Whirlpool model #WFW9150W front load washer. Washer makes lots of noise when operating

If it sounds like a freight train in spin cycle most likely it is your bearings. If it makes a clunking noise during the wash cycle you have a broken support. The best way to tell is to spin the basket by hand and listen for the noise. Check to see if the basket is making circles and not ovals. Pull back the rubber seal and look signs of the basket rubbing against the outer plastic tubs. If is either one of these it is cheaper to buy a new washer than to fix it. Fixing it involves rebuilding the machine. If it only makes the noise when it starts to drain you need to check your pump for foreign objects.

Loud noise during washing/rinsing cycles

I just replaced the bearings on my Front loader Maytag MAH5500B, as it sounded like a freight train during the spin cycle. The bearing replacement fixed the train problem.

NEW PROBLEM NOW: It's been about a month now since the bearing job and now something is clicking/binding when you spin the back belt wheel. I have taken the belt off and carefully move the wheel and I still get this clicking noise. It sounds as if someone is hitting the plastic drum that the tub is surrounded by. I really doubt it's the bearings this soon, as the sound is not the same! No leaks or metal shavings to speak of or rubbing of the belt wheel.

Seems like it's more noticeable during the wash/rinse cycles then the spin.

Can anyone help.???

My machine make too much noise

does it sound like a 747 about to crash in your house? if so you might as well through your washer away because you have a bad bearing and the cost to repair that is about the same for a new one. let me know if this helps

Maytag washer MAH 5500bww seems to run OK, but it does not pump out all the water(pumps out some) at the end of the cycles, churns remaining water during spin

Open the rear panel and remove the drain pump and clean it.
If there is nothing in the pump, check the drain motor for 18 ohms with a volt/ohm meter.
Not 18 ohms, replace the motor.

I have a maytag neptune front end washer. model #

hi..
First clean out your outlet filter. If this does not work, open up behind and tighten all points where wires are joined; due to vibrations these might have come loose. Plug off the wall first!!..

thank u

Maytag neptune MAH4000AWW Very loud noise when spinning

I found this on line ... 6/15/09 . Does your Maytag Neptune front loader sound like a runaway freight train when it is in high speed spin cycle? 2. Is your Neptune getting so loud that you cannot be in the same room while it is spinning your clothes? It sounds like your bearings may need some attention if you answered YES to the questions See www.neptunebearing.com ... Frank frankbusch@comcast.net
