I want to buy a PCI network card for Dell Dimnesion 4700. I have not used one before . what is mopst approrpriate card?

An Ethernet adapter card that has a capability of a transfer rate, of up to 1000 Mega Bits per Second.

Just about all of them nowdays.

Older versions were 10/100, but now for the specifications it will state 10/100/1000 for a decent network adapter card.

Here is an example of one,

Not an advertisement for website, nor manufacturer of network adapter card.

As for naming a manufacturer that makes the best one's? Doesn't really matter.

Where will antenna of wirelessPCI adapter will fit on motherboard

It sticks out the back. You remove one of the silver plates so you have access to an empty PCI slot on your motherboard. The three white slots are the PCI slots, it looks like you have a modem or NIC in the middle one now. Remove the phillips head screw securing the bottom plate and you will be able to slide the card in from the back and snap it into the lowest white PCI slot.

Wireless network

She would need a wireless card. Make sure the 802 standard is the same as the router supports. An n wireless card will not work on a router that is a g. you can also enter the settings of the router to make sure it is set to the accept the standard she uses on her wireless. my linksys can do b and g... but i have it set to only accept g. make sure you set security on the router when you have a connection establish so you aren't sharing your internet with wireless neighbours.

Usb 2.0 ports not working on my emachines T3504

You may need to uninstall your current usb's and let Windows redetect them.

click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, SYSTEM. Click on tab HARDWARE, click on DEVICE MANAGER. Scroll down to UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLER. Delete everything there. Click on ACTION, SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES. It should redetect and you should be good.

Cannot get online with Wireless G WRT54G router. Can get online by pressing Cisco Systems button but only temporarily.

Do U see the router signal on the wireless network connection search?
Sometimes the linksys systems cd does not want to work on some pc's. try using the control panel - add/remove programs and uninstall all programs for the linksys. Then goto the control panel - system - hardware and uninstall the linksys card. Leave the actual card installed and reboot. After it detects your card use the linksys cd to load only the driver.
In the properties of the wireless connection, let windows manage it.
The above is based upon the factory defaults of the router. Any keys to access the router would have to be used on the pc.

I'm trying to set up a Linksys Wireless A G card with an old Gateway Solo 5300 laptop. I use the same card with both a Dell Inspiron 8100 and 1501 laptops without problems. My network is setup using...

The old standby solution was used: I removed the card from the laptop and rebooted the computer without it. Then I re-installed it. I then checked the configuration and saw that it had not changed the network encryption to WPA-Personal from WEP - even though the card had shown that it had. So, I changed it again, and voila! - it worked. Can't believe that after working with these damn things for so many years, I can still get tripped up by the simplest solution...

What are the step for setting up you computers to a network using a Linksys router. I have a 2 PC's and a laptop that I would linke to net work together. My first computer is connect to the Wireless-B...

Hi Ed, if your using windows you can open network connections & run network setup wizard. Follow the instruction for a home network for the wireless PC's & notebooks. Once the network is setup for all PC's than you can install the printer cd software in the PC's that you want to access the printer. Each PC & notebook will have access to the printer through the network.
The PC that that is connected to the printer needs to be shared.
Open printers and Faxes. Right click once on the printer & left click sharing. Agai follow the instructions.
Lastly,I strongly suggest you setup security for your wireless. If you do not anyone close can tap into your network connection. Follow linksys instruction to setup security. If you run into a problem you can call linksys for free advise from a pro. Their number is listed in the manual.
