    same problem

Here is how I was finally able to replace the gasket, I follow the disassemble instructions on the repair manual starting from page 26 with the control panel, then the dispenser assembly only steps 1 through 3, jump to the cabinet cover on page 29 and follow the instructions all the way to the end of page 30. when putting it back on just make sure that the larger opening of the gasket goes into the tub area and the smaller opening goes on the front of the loader. The gasket should fit perfectly back in with no problem if you are installing it the correct way. Use a vice grip nose plier, to reinstall the spring back on to the gasket. below is a link to the repair manual. good luck and let me know how it turns out.

My LG wm1814cw has the same problem. I have a slight drip from the door at teh bottom, but not all the time. My unit is just over a year old and warranty has expired. I have paid a considerable amount for the washer/dryer combo and thought I bought the best and upset that it is leaking in such a short time.

Is there any reason why this seal should fail so quickly?

Is there any adjustment on the door or locking mechanism that can resolve this issue?

If I press in on the door the leak stops. Is there any other solution other than replacing the seal?

My 3 yr old washer developed a leak and I confirmed it was in the bottom of the door gasket. Found pn 4986ER0001A on ebay for $48. Easily removed old gasket without disassembling the washer. Two large spring clamps popped loose once spring was located. Water hose slid off of white hard-plastic piece and gasket was off. Spent over 2 hours trying to reattach inner most spring clamp without removing front of washer. I'm convinced that it would take a magician or very specialized tools to do this.
Removed to screws from back of washer, slid top back 2 inches, removed 2 screws from top of front panel, 3 screws from bottom of front panel (behind white plastic door on left side). Disconnected wire from door switch and removed front panel.
Gasket was fairly easy to install now. Spent 30-40 minutes. Springs are tricky. After trying several methods, I finally looped a 10 inch wire through the spring loop and pulled it down over the hook. Do-able job but I'd suggest removing the front panel. Hope this helps someone.

I have changed these without disassembling the unit. Just remove the spring from the gasket, then peel back the gasket to remove the inner spring. This is the easy part, getting the inner spring back on is a pain in the neck, but it can be done. The spring will give you problems either way. Good Luck

Duet washer leaks during use; rinse cycle?

Check the water pump hose connections and the water pumps housing bolts themselves could have loosened from vibration. more likely the hose connections on the pump itself though. Hope this helps.

Front loader washer leaks from bottom center of door osmetimes

Check inside the door on the bellows gasket to make sure the inlet area (normally at the 10 o'clock position) is properly positioned around the water inlet, sometimes these work themselves off the inlet nozzle and can casue a leak when the washer is filling up.

Also, carefully run your hand around the bellows gasket to see if you can find any small holes that cold be letting water leak out. You'll need a flashlight to make this easier. It is hardly ever the hinges that causes a leak since the hinges are mounted outside of the door seal gasket (bellows gasket) and aren't ever exposed to the water.

Front load washer leaks

It's not difficult to line up the boot around the door. The difficult part is taking out the tub (basket and plastic shell). Everything needs to be disconnected, and removed from the back, as well the tub is very heavy and best to do as a two person job.

If your washer is only 5 years old, it's kind of a 50/50. The cost (with labour) to fix the leak would come to approx $450 cdn.

Water Leak from the Front Door of our Maytag Epic MFW9700S

The water leaking is most likely the gasket. It may have a little rip or something making it not seal. Im not sure about Maytag but on our GE we had to slide the the top back to remove some screws then (I believe to was for the control panel) Then we removed screws for the door and the front of the washer. When that was done you have to remove a round clamp that holds the gasket on. Then replace the gasket.

My suggestion is to have a appliance repair come and do it. Its a pain to do, at least it was for me.

Washer is leaking

Check the rubber bellow (gasket) around the door. This is the symptom of a door gasket that it starting to leak. Pull the rubber folds back and check the area where the gasket attaches to the wash tub. You may have a crack or tear. If the gasket is worn please replay back to this post and I can give you advice on how to replace it and where to get a replacement gasket.
