Question about Toshiba Qosmio G15 Notebook

1 Answer

G15 I bought quosmio G15 on Ebay and it worked perfectly fine for the first few weeks. The guy who selled it to me sent me an extra RAM with it. I put it in and when I turned on the machine it made a blue screen and turned itself off. THe blue screen was for a very short time, so I couln't read anything there (and to be honest I was also doing other things and not really expecting this to happen) so I don't know what was on the screen. I took of the Ram and since then it's not operating properly = e.g. I double click on explorer and it creates another shortcut on the desktop, It can not launch the media center, it has problems with many applications. It gives me an error when launching the media center at the beginning. WHat would be the best thing to do?

Apparently this was a bad memory chip, and it glitched the system. Start by doing a system restore, you may have to go back a couple of restore points to get it back, depending on the depth of the glitch. Th restore should cure it, but if it doesn't, then you will need to do a system repair with the operating system or recovery disc. A repair will definitely fix it, and you won't lose any data by do a repair. Do the restore and let me know.

LOL, buy a screen off eBay and replace it yourself. Never deal with Tesco again!!! Go to ebay and but in your laptop's model and find a screen. For example if mine laptop was a HP Pavilion DV8000 I would put in the ebay search "HP Pavilion DV8000 LCD Screen".

Or you can check with your local computer repair shops and get a quote from them on repairing the screen. Check with the guys at: http://www.generalsystemsconsulting.com They will fix it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS and most times their price will beat any quote including the shipping charge.

I have a Tecra 8200 bought as used fitted with 256MB of ram. If I buy an extra 256MB which brings the total to the maximum allowed of 512MB is it likely that I will need to upgrade the bios to allow the...

This laptop came with 128mb ram, you can safely install 2 sticks of 256mb for a maximum of 512mb with no bios update.
You need pc100 sodimms.
Amazon or ebay will be the best bet as this memory is expensive now from a retailer.
I found 256mb sticks for under $10 buy it now on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/256MB-SODIMM-PC100-SDRAM-256-MB-PC-100-LAPTOP-144-Pin-/190411543153?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c55699271

Help with Toshiba G15-AV501 Qosmio bluetooth!!

The solution to your second problem is to insert the CD Qosmio Player Recovery CD. The buttons on the top do actually work (most of the time) yet it seems for some reason qccasionally it takes the CD refresh to get them working again. The picture and sound are great once you have got them working. So, don't be discouraged it's a great PC (once you have resolved your problems) I have had mine for 3 years w/o problems except for this one just described. Good luck.

One other thing I did have trouble with the Bluetooth, I resolved it by buying a Targus Bluetooth dongle, (disaabling all built in Bluetooth) then everything "paired" and worked easily, (unlike the built-in)

Hp dv5000 problem

ill suggest o you like many technician do when they messed around their workstation...
if that what you have done is similar to a desktop replacement of ram probably you just knocked out some of the components inside...

first thing check the specs of your old ram and compare it to your new ram... its not just buying the higher capacity but also considering the type of ram you are buying... you can't just put oddly different rams to replace the old one just because its has higher capacity... go to the store where you bought the new ram and show them your old ram for an assistance, hopefully the guy selling the ram knows what type of ram you really need (they should ask you that on the first place).

if the two rams you bought are similar to each other then you save your time going back to the shop where you bought the new ram... just open your system and make sure everything sets firm and if you can just the ram out and get a brush.... brush the dirt out of the connectors and use an eraser to your ram and erase the contact points...

if this helps just rate me to give thanks ok...

Check your owners manual to see if the laptop will support 2GB of ram. If not you will need to use 2 512mb sticks to get to 1 GB

I had the same problem, what you need to do is call Pamela Saunders at Toshiba Corporate in Irving, CA and she will get it repaired for you at no cost to you regardless of warranty. This is a bad batch of computers.

The Phone Number is: 800-457-7777 or 949-462-6000
