Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I need a website link to download a driver for my Zio card reader (I am trying to transfer pictures from my camera to my laptop). The only identifying information on the Zio is on the back: the top has the letters CE, followed by a box that looks like a tv screen with the letters VCI in the center. There is also a long string of numbers in the middle of the back: 31520105313430. At the bottom of the back is a silver sticker that says Microtech, with a web address www.microtechint.com. I hope you can provide me a web link asap as I am vacationing and want to download my pictures to my laptop so my friends can see them before I leave next Tuesday. Thank you for your prompt attention to my question.

Apparently the company changed name and there is known problems with the Blue Triangular shaped card reader, for which the Driver is not available anymore.

I found the new company website, they don't seem to make the old card reader, and even for the new one the show on the site, there is no driver available !!

So my advice here, buy a new one, this time choose a known brand (like Sandisk....), it will be safer and certainly faster

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

Welcome to Fixya

Since this is a radioshack product, you can download the files thru their website. The only problem there is if radioshack discontinued supporting his product. Please click this link. As on option, if you need to transfer your pictures from your camera to your computer. You can purchase a card reader then all you need to do is to take out the memory card of the camera and insert it to the card reader.

Thank you for using Fixya!

I started using my old Nikon CP5400. I connected the USB to the laptop and it doesn't recognize it to transfer the pics. I have tried it on other laptops as well. Is there a driver that I need to...

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

If your camera is not relatively new and you're running Vista, Vista may have problems seeing it. Unfortunately, this can't be corrected as Canon did not update the drivers for their older cameras to be compatible with Vista. But there exists a good, if not better alternative way to download your photos. Please don't take the following as a sales pitch as it's not, but please see this link, as it describes the use of an inexpensive USB card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:
