Question about Audio Players & Recorders
My Onkyo TA-2700 tape deck will not play tapes. The mechanism engages the heads to the tape, I hear something act like it's trying to turn (and the drive wheel even spins about a 64th of an inch) then it just stops like it's reached tape end even though it's the beginning.
I haven't had it apart yet, though I suspect it's not a direct (gear-driven) drive so the rubber drive bands have worn\become too aged to continue to function. Does anyone know where I can locate NOS parts to replace these myself?
Open the deck and look for the copper colored leaf switches (above the plastic comb) that get corroded / dirty over the years.. Clean them with deoxide or similar and your are most likely good to go..

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
