I did that and it fixed the initial problem. Now I have horizontal lines. They are faint. It looks like as though you were looking through venetian blinds. Ideas?

Yes, replace capacitors in vertical section, usually vertical section has 5-6 capacitors so replace them all with same ratings/ value.
Thanks.

Seems few capacitors are weak in horizontal deflection section as well, replace them to solve the issue, can you post tv screen image here to have better idea about faint lines?

Lines on screen

If you are concerned with horizontal lines on the TV, you will need to replace the capacitors near and next to the vertical IC. Then inspect the vertical IC for cracked rings on the pins, resolder as necessary. Thanks for asking!

Vertical half a picture changed vert out ic & 220mfd 35v could it be vert yoke

If you have a hot air gun like used for dry the hair, apply hot air on the vertical section, if the trouble is solved sure is an electrolitic capacitor, find it hoting one by one with de solder, if not, may be is the defletion yoke, the impedance is not less then 7 ohms.Another probe for the yoke: disconect the vertical wires and supply 12 VAC with a transformer to vertical coil and turn on the tv and watch, if the vertical size is ok, the yoke is ok.

I have a 15 year old Zenith console, SL2737RK, lost vertical defl

You need to resolder the vertical IC and replace any electrolytic caps in the same immediate area. If you can find someone with electronics experience they know what I'm saying....It can be repaired.

Red Green Blue horizontal line at top of screen

Since both were replaced at one time, you now can't limit the problem properly. Should have been done one at a time.

Your vert height may be too short, causing you to be seeing things that should be off screen.

This can be remedied in the service mode.

Vertical Rolling picture

Vertical IC, caps or the hyper board would be my guess. None of which you can do yourself without some serious electronics experience. You'll need to ESR test the caps in the vertical circuit first, then move-on to static testing the vertical IC. If either of these are the problem it's not too expensive. The Hyper Module is a different story, usually only replaceable as a module but you can also send them in for rebuild to PTS Electronics.

Vertical/horizontal

Since you can bang it to heal it some, try checking for cold solder joints. Caps and IC's next. Careful TV's store up to 3000 K volts unplugged. Enuff to kill.

Picture problems

you have a vert sweep colapse. Fisrt thing is to get a schematic diagram and find the vert. output Ic and the clamper diode. Measure the voltage on both sides. If its low then its apossibility that the Ic was drawing loads of current and blew out the b+ feed resistor. Look on the schematic and trace back the voltage line from the vert output ic back to the sweep power supply on the secondary of the flyback transformer. check the limiter resistor to the feed and if its open replace the cap right there the resistor as well as the vertical output Ic ALL AT ONCE!!! If you dont you will cause it to go out again in a short time. Good Luck.. If you post the vert part of the schematic I will be more then happy to assist you with this repair.

Vertical hold

You dont have enough vertical sweep!! Best thing to check is the vert output device and I think its an IC . BUT before that check the b+ going to that device and see if its low. I will run through a silicon diode right next to the ic. Measure both sides of the diode and if theres a big voltage drop then the diodes bad. Now also these sets are common for the b+ filter cap off thge flyback transformer. Its the voltage line that feeds that diode and the vert output section. Now measure all caps out of cucuit as most will measure good if you dont. Also just for giggles right nrxt to the big IC that has the vert ,horizontal video and sound drive there is if im not mistaking the vert parts start with c4-- or the ic will be ic4-- Its a small cap that will sayc4-- attached to nothing but the ground and one pin of the ic. I've seen this cap cause all sorts of vert problems in the past as its the vert waveshaper capacitor for the vert osc/drive. Good Luck
