Question about Samsung SCH-a645 Cellular Phone

Samsung sch-a645 - When I try to press "New Text Msg" the phone turns off. I also don't seem to be receiving text messages at the moment. Is there a known issue with this and is there a solution to it?

Hi,your phone not sending sms and switching off and not also receiving sms could be caused by two things.
1.not receiving sms could be as a result of message centre number of your service provider on your phone being deleted.you can obtain that by calling the customer care session of your service provider to get your message center number and retype it into your phone.you will locate that under the message setting icon by.
2.your phone switching off when you want to type text messages could be caused by virus or a software problem.I would advice you visit a repair technician to help you fix it by flashing the phone with the use of internet softwares.
Wish you good luck.
Take care.

(older) Samsung phones are well known for their proprietary OS glitches. This is a common issue.
You can contact Samsung directly or visit the support section of their website to see if there are any fixes released (though not likely):
http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP09&prd_ia_cd=&prd_mdl_cd=&prd_mdl_name=SCH-A645
My own personal advice would be to upgrade to a better, more modern phone.

I'm unable to receive any text messages or pictures.

You have no memory on your phone. The best way to solve this is to get a memory card and transfer what you can onto it. It will free up the memory for texts

Why does my samsung s380c phone have no text or voice mail alert signal

Menu > Messages > Msg Settings > General > Message Alerts

By default, this setting is "Off" - which makes absolutely zero sense. Try setting it to "Once", "Every 2 Minutes" or "Every 15 Minutes"

Changing this setting didn't help the no text alert issue with the Samsung S380C I'm dealing with, but it might work for you.

Why can't i recieve text messages on my samsung

Hi, issues like this are related to your Sim card (network),
not your Cell Phone . In most cases, regarding the text messages,
the problem is from the Service Operator. Have you tried the Sim card on another phone? If not,
remove the Sim card, insert it on another phone and try sending a message from another mobile to you number,
or you can do it in vise- versa by inserting another Sim card on your mobile.

If you can't receive text messages even when it's inserted on another handset,
then you will need to call the customer care of your Network Operator and tell
them your problem, they will help you fix it immediately.

You can check the message center number, but I don't think
it's very much important in your case, well, if you wanna try,
just check the text message settings and verify that the message
center number (which is currently in use) is the same number which
is on another phone with the same network (the other Sim should be
of the same network in your area). If it's different, make the changes
and save the settings. Also disable the "Receive Via" or similar settings..
(I can't recollect the exact settings as i don't have the same model with
me, please excuse me for this.).

If the same Sim card doesn't receive text messages using another handset,
don't bother to change the settings or to make any changes with it,
first call the customer care and verify from them, you may make mistakes instead of fixing it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for using fixya.......

I can't find my saved sounds on my samsung sch-u340

Hit "menu"
Go to "sounds"
go to "ringer type"
select "calls"
select "downloaded"

Any saved sounds that you have in the phone will be here. If they are not there, and you received them in a pic or text msg, you will need to go back to that msg and choose "save sound" in the options.

Samsung sch-870 won't send or receive text messages

ok the only thing i could say is to turn off the phone and remove the battery for about half a minute this would fix the problem hopefully. or try calling your service provider. I have telus and when that happened to me with the same phone i called them and they reset my network. they might have a problem doing this, so the easiest way to get your network reset for your phone is to tell them that you forgot your voicemail pin. when they reset your voicemail password they reset your network at the same time. hopefully this is answer your questions and get your sons cell working again.
