When I finally installed Internet Explorer 8, I was reallyfrustrated when I tried to do a Microsoft Update (or Windows Update) as I fellinto an infinite loop of checking for updates. It would continually spit meback out to the 'getting started page' and then try to update my Active X andthen give me a “Check for Updates” button, over and over. I found the solution, and here is what I did:
Apparently, you need to reset the Windows Update Agent. In my case, a previous update was inhibiting the re-install of this “agent” so I had to force it to re-install. Here is how:

  1. Download and install the Windows Update agent. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104
  2. For me I downloaded to my desktop the “For an x86-based computer” windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe
  3. Once downloaded, Click Start, click Run, click Browse, locate the file that you saved and then click Open.
  4. Make sure the whole path is in quotes and add the /wuforce switch to the end of the location, and then click OK. It should look like this:

    "C:Documents and SettingsjoeblowDesktopwindowsupdateagent30-x86.exe" /wuforce
  5. Click Run.
  6. Follow the steps to complete the wizard.
  7. Restart Internet Explorer
***Important *** If you have attempted this once before, and you with to try again to reinstall Windows Update Agent, download the relevant file from one of the links on the Microsoft kb site above and save it to a drive where Windows is not loaded. This is because the file cannot be launched directly from the system root directory. Click Start, click Run, type: "D:WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe /wuforce" (without quotations) and then press Enter to install the Windows Update engine. Note: There is a space between "D:WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" and "/wuforce" D: is the drive where Windows is not installed (ie a flash drive or a 2nd hard drive etc)

Everytime I do a windows update, it either crashes or hangs on "shutting down" (after leaving it on all night!). Then I lose everything. Help!

you have to be more spacific on what you are doing and what os you are using. Are you using Windows 7 or Vista. If you are using vista, Dont. upgrade to windows 7, it's worth it. but everything else aside, try different ways of installing the updates. you can download the updates manually and install them other then just letting automatic updates do everything.

I download my own copy of windows 7 (32bit) but i dont know what drivers i need to improve't ,,,

Hi,
You shouldn't have problems installing the drivers for your Toshiba Satellite A6653DV Notebook as Windows 7 should be able to install the drivers for your devices automatically. If not, you can always go to "Device Manager" and right click the device you like to install then use the option for "Update Driver Software" then "Search Automatically for updated drivers". Make sure that you are connected to the internet when doing this so windows can search of an updated driver for your device.
Hope this helps.

How do I delete certain music from my iPod Nano 4gb

first to delete a song from your computer you must have itunes installed the software on your computer. connect your ipod to computer via usb cable. then it will and should automatically update it and do an update. After the update go to the songs on your itunes it updated and uncheck the songs you dont want on your library playlist. disconnect your ipod and close out of itunes. connect your ipod via usb cable back to your computer and open itunes if it doesnt automatically. then it will update the songs that were on it and not the unchecked ones you dont want deleting them. glad to be of service. thanks!

Windows XP home edition service pack 3

OK, do you wish to install further updates? if you dont, then what you can do is disable automatic updates

To do this, then right click on the desktop the icon My pc and select properties. The sub menu Automatic Updates you will find on the top, click that and check the box disable automatic updates

Some Automatic updates are dangerous and can cause your computer to stop working correctly. I would recommend you disable them. Once this is disabled, restart your computer and the access denied messages will disappear. This is because its most likely you have automatic updates set to download and install automatically. But once you disable this, problem should be solved.

If you have any more questions, please let me know

Help!

You might have connected to interent and your windows updates are automatically downloaded. You need to install those updates. Actually it did not shut but power goes off may be it was on stand by mode. Now shut down (press Alt+F4) your laptop from menu. Choose Install Updates and Shut Down from the drop down list.
Now it will install updates and after completion it will automatically shut down your laptop. Hope it works
