Question about JUMP START SYSTEM

1 Answer

The Vector VEC013 400 W Jump starter, will not take a charge. I plug it in for 3 days straight and never gets power. I have pushed the battery indicator and nothing illuminates. I fear it is dead, and is this normal? I have not had this very long.

My SCA starter pack is not charging, has been on 240 volt for two days

How old is the starter pack? The battery(ies) die after 3-5 years. FWIW I replaced an AGM-type battery in a starter pack and found out later it was almost as expensive as buying a new one from COSTCO or Uncle Sam's. Sounds like you're in Oz so COSTCO might not be available.

How do I know the battery status on my Stanley 350 amp jump start ? When I push the button it always lights up all 3 lights regardless of how much charge is on

I have a more basic version from Home Depot. From day 1, the charge indicator never worked correctly. Have had it several years now and probably by this time, the battery is just getting weak and needs to be replaced. I found that charging by the cigarette lighter doesn't work too well. Charging by the AC adaptor overnight is the best and I do it every 4 months. Once and a while, I test it by connecting to an old starter motor. If it spins at decent speed, the charge is OK. The cigarette lighter plug connection is also good to use when you need to change the car battery and don't want to loose all your radio presets. It backfeeds the system and keeps all battery powered systems powered when the main battery is disconnected.
NEVER run the engine without the main battery connected! Good way to burn out all your electronics.

VEC012POB Manual

Vector sold to Black & Decker who then sold to Bacchus. The only manual I find with the same number you show is NOT yellow and has no USB connection. It is charged by a 110 volt wall wart charger that plugs into a receptacle on the unit, or a 12 volt cigar lighter cable that plugs into the 12 volt port on the unit. Here's a brochure for the model number you provoided:

Ebay lists over 150 of them. 12v 19ah will get you to a seller.

The jump starter won't have a problem with the extra ah capacity but there might be a problem with the physical size of the battery.

The jump starter's charge function may work a little harder though.

My vector start-it elite jump starter is not holding charge even after days of charging. Why?

Hi Ydja,

The batteries on these jump boxes don't last very long. I've been through three of them. Never again.

Now I just carry an extra battery. It's more powerful and has laste longer than the three jump boxes put together.

Best regards
