Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Washing machine works but occasionally makes noise occasionally at end of cycle, when spinning etc. I suspect a missing sock may have found it's way through the gap and is in the drum housing, out of sight. Is it best left alone or try and remove drum? If so, any advice how to?

Clothing cannot get into the drum housing. Noises which occur during the spin cycle suggest that the drum is being thrown of balance during the spin cycle. A possible cause of this is that the bracket which holds the drum to the spindle is partially broken. This bracket consists of 3 or 4 arms and eventually one or more arms will crack and break (this is a result of the interaction between the steel drum, aluminium bracket and electricty, which weakens aluminium over a period of time). If the machine is not examined and repaired, then the drum noise will get worse and the drum will start to knock & rub against other parts, especially the water heating element and this will result in a more costly repair.

Kenmore Elite Oasis HT makes loud noises during spin cycle.

The tub may be unbalanced and wobbling. This may be due to washing heavy items such as rugs, towels, etc. If it is noisy with regular laundry loads, the mechanism that supports the tub may be loose or broken.

Suds....cycle will not complete. even with no

Check the drain line for kinks or obstructions and check out the pump. It's not only if the water drained, but how fast it drained. I would remove the hoses from the pump and use a flashlight to look into the suction port on the pump. Look for anything clogging the pump (like the occasional stray sock, etc) An obstructions can cause a longer drain time. Check the pump impeller and make sure it has no broken or missing blades and that the impeller spins freely. If any blades are broken/missing or if you can't get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is bad. Hopefully it's just a clogged line, pump, or jammed impeller. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

My whirlpool duet front load won't run. I got an f- error code and when i went to run the drain cycle it sound like grinding coming from the pump? Now the drain cylce won't even run the machine just sits...

It sounds like the pump. You can check the drain line for kinks or obstructions, but I didn't like the way you described the sound the pump made. Remove the hoses from the pump and check for anything clogging it, like the occasional stray sock and check the pump impeller. Make sure no blades are missing/broken and that the impeller spins freely. If you find any broken/missing blades or if you can't get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective. Sometimes hard objects like coins, pins, etc. can make it to the pump and damage the impeller. Hopefully it's just a clogged pump or jammed impeller. Sure sorry for your trouble and hope this helped. Best wishes.

Im lg wd1015fb is displaying oe at drain cycle and ive cheaked the drain pipe and the lint filter both fine so how do i get it to go full cycle

If the drain pipe is clear, and the code persists, then check the pump. Remove the hoses from the pump and use a flashlight to look into the suction port. Make sure nothing is clogging the pump (like the occasional stray sock) and check the pump impeller. Make sure there are no broken/missing blades and that the impeller spins freely. If any blades are missing/broken or if you cannot get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective. Hopefully it is just a clogged pump or jammed impeller. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Our maytag proforma machine was making a loud noise during washing cycle. water wasn't draining - we think it may be the water pump?

Yes, it sounds like you need to check the pump. Remove the hoses from the pump and using a flashlight, look into the suction port of the pump. Check for anything clogging the pump (like the occasional stray sock) Also check the pump impeller. Make sure there are no broken/missing blades and make sure the impeller spins freely. If any blades are missing/damaged or if you cannot get the impeller to spin freely, then the pump is bad. Hopefully it is just a clogged pump. Hope this helps and best wishes.
