Question about Philips Car Audio & Video

Open Question

I have a Radiosat 6010 and have made a cable that plugs directly into the back of the radio where the cd changer would normally be plugged with a 3.5 jack on so that i can plug my mp3 in but when i try to change the source on the radio to cd changer mode it just beeps at me. In order for it to work i need to be able to put the radio in cd changer mode. Any idea how i can do this or trick the radio into thinking that there is a cd changer attached? Cheers

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

SOURCE: Ipod Connection through RCA Cable

Actually, what I think gbaity is doing is utilizing his IP(Interactive Pioneer)-Bus port in the back of the DEH-P3000, which is an input port designed to allow the deck to use an external multi-disk CD changer. All you need is the CD changer, then change the input source from your deck to "M-CD". There are folks on eBay and other places that sell a cable that pluggs into that very same port. They are designed to allow the unit to accept input through the IP-Bus from an ipod or just about any low-level input that you can pass through the RCA jacks. I have the same deck, and also just purchased an ipod cable for the IP-Bus, and it also does not work. I have been told that I need to switch the "M-CD" input source to "AUX" as the input, but I do not know how to do that. pressing the input source button only displays "CD", "M-CD", and "FM/AM". Does anyone know how to add "AUX" to the choices or otherwise show us how to make these cables work? Thanks - TomR

SOURCE: aux input for sony car stereo (cdx c 5000r)

For Sony Stereos, you will need to get what is called a Bus Converter. The RCA ports you are trying to use are for a CD changer or alternate device like satellite or HD radio, and those have to have some sort of frequency signal to even be selected. You can find a Bus Converter that will allow you to use this as an Auxiliary input. The device you are looking for is called a Sony XA 300, and it will allow you Two extra Aux Inputs, I believe.

SOURCE: Hook an ipod to Pioneer DEH-16

The RCA jacks on the rear of the head unit are rear pre-amp outputs. (google it if you need an explination on what purpose they serve or see the installation guide) With that said, I am able to play my mp3 player through them but since they are 'rear' pre-amp outputs my mp3s only play on the rear speakers. see this post for more...
