I was playing around in my bios and must have set something wrong because no I get the black screen with F9, F10,F12 at the bottom right (Boot, Setup, Network) but not the blue F! at the left to boot it up. I can't get past this screen. How can I reset the bios since I can't even access it anymore?

Unplug the PC from the mains power socket. Open the case. Look carefully inside at the main board. There should be a small 3V button cell in a socket. This maintains the CMOS data configured in the BIOS setup. Remove the battery and leave it out for a few minutes. Re-insert the battery, close the cover and re-connect the power. Switch the PC on and you should hopefully be able to get into the bios.

Hi,

Just set the BIOS configuration to its default settings. Simply access the BIOS again and on the BIOS, Press F9 and select "Yes or press Y" to load BIOS defaults and Press F10 to Save and Exit BIOS setup.

Linux mint 12 won't boot from CD

Restart your computer, press repetedly a key to enter BIOS, normally Del, go to Advanced BIOS Features probably and change to boot primarly from CD/DVD (1st Boot Device CD/DVD , or something like that), save and exit BIOS, and restart your computer with Linux Mint CD inside. Be aware that if you make wrong changes in BIOS, you could damage your computer.

How can I change boot sequence in Compaq Evo N410c?

You need to access your BIOS configuration. 1. To do this, shutdown your computer and boot it by pressing the power button. 2. You need to hit F10 when the computer first powers up in order to get into BIOS (Note that the key is usually different for different computers. If F10 doesnt work, try F2, F12, Delete or F9. 3. Once in the BIOS, you should find the boot sequence option.
Hope this helps!

get the windows 7 cd, put it in the DVD drive, watch for boot options when the computer starts something like "press F9" for boot options. Its typically (F9-F10 or F12) select boot from CD Follow the prompts. If you cannot locate the boot options. Go into System Setup at boot and change the BIOS Boot order, To CD first then hard disk. HP Omnibook xe4500 on boot up says PXE-E61 Cable missing; Operating System Not Found. Wha do i do?

hi,

Selecting and un-selecting drives in BIOS can be a tricky process...let's try this: a) Step 1: go into BIOS, select F9 ( restore defaults) then F10 (save and exit). Re-boot. b) Step 2: back into BIOS, go into "startup" then into "boot" and choose "diagnostics". F10 to save and exit. Re-boot. You should be able to see both your drives (DVD and HDD) while "diagnostics" runs its course during boot. If you have a drive missing, there's your problem. If you don't have a drive missing, back to the previous idea: press F12, choose to boot from CD-ROM and see what happens this time around. Good luck and let us know. Install a fresh copy of windows xp. Thank you.........

This error message may appear when the computer BIOS is set to boot from a network and cannot find a bootable operating system on the network or on any of the storage devices included in the notebook PC's boot path.

The following steps are for most HP Pavilion and Compaq Presario Notebook PCs. The boot order can be configured on the Advanced tab in the BIOS settings menu. The steps to modify the boot order may vary depending on the model of your computer. On most HP notebooks the boot order can be configured using the following steps:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu. NOTE: Some notebook PCs use the F2 or F6 key.
  3. Use the right and left arrow keys to select the Advanced tab.
  4. Use the up and down arrow keys to select Boot Order .
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to change the boot order.
Reset the boot order to the default settings Use the following steps to reset the boot order to the default settings:
  1. Turn on or restart the computer.
  2. While the display is blank, press the F10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.
  3. Press the F9 key to reset the BIOS to default settings.
  4. Press the F10 to save the changes and exit the BIOS settings menu.

I think it will you to fix your problem.
If still have problem then tell me more about it.

Thanks
Iqbal

Changing Sony Vaio BIOS

you should be able to exit and save changes, which my guess is you are exiting without saving the changes. theres is a way around this, by pressing either F8, F9, F10, or F12 to access the boot menu, and then you can boot from cd to install your linux operating system
