Power on problem

When I switch on the power button of Hp Deskjet 1280, it comes for a moment and goes off soon. What should I do to solve this?

No. I have got the problem. This is not the solution.

The rear switch was open. When I close it, it has come. So I have solved the problem.

Anyway if there is such a problem with any other person, this may be helpful.

My HP Deskjet1220C has the same problem, which has been progressive. It used to turn on after I pushed the on button several times, then only after I pushed the middle button (paper-feed) at the same time, now it never goes on, even when I disconnect power, leaving switch on for 10 sec., etc. The light goes on for an instant, then off. All 3 lights will light up if I push their switch along with the power button, but no power. Is this an expensive repair bill?

Amazing - the same thing has happened to mine. I had a paper jam the day before but no obvious connection. The power supply, continuity etc has been checked and all are fine.
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks,

I have concluded that the circuit board is dead. It costs more than a new printer to repair so I am going to throw it in the bin - not sure what to do with my spare printer cartridges as it is proving difficult to source a replacement 1280 - lesson learned - never stock up with consumables.

My 1280 printer was working beautifully until this afternoon when I switched it on. The light came on briefly then went off and doesn't come back on again unless I unplug the power cord and press it again. The ink cartridge button comes on when pressed, but when I open the lid the ink cartridges normally move out of their dock and into the middle but they don't now. Needless to say I can't print from it and have tried moving the power supply to another socket and connecting it to another computer but still the power light only briefly comes on and I can't print.
    HELP please ..........

I have had the same problem more than once, it is not broken! do not throw away or send it to someone to be fixed! I am guessing that everyone with this problem has had a paper jam which involves taking off the back panel. If this is the case then it is simply a case that it has not been put back properly. I thought for several attempts I had but it back properly, but there are 4 pins which come out the side when you turn the catch, unless these are fully extended it will not work. You will know when it works because turning the catch is smooth. So even if it seems that it is in if the printer still doesnt work try again.
Luckily I had the problem the first time 3 days before the warranty expired, so tech support told me to replace the cover and it worked first time. This time a year later I thought I was doing the right thing but didnt realise until many attempts later that the cover wasnt reconnected when i thought it was.

The problem is the rear door not "correctly" closed. Try to remove it and put again in place. I've got the same problem twice, and both times I was sure the door was closed, but when I double checked it wasn't.

Hmmm...sounds like there's a problem with the power supply perhaps.

unplug from wall outlet(not power strip)

press on button..plug back into wall directly..hold button for 10 seconds, and release.

see if that helps at all

HP Deskjet 1280

I have found you need to be very accurate with the placement of the of the paper guide box and ensure it is completely locked in to ensure the printer will turn on.
This is the manual feed box at rear of the printer.

Problems printing with HP Deskjet 1280

When I printed powerpoint documents on a hp deskjet 1280 it failed to print lines. I found that this problem could be solved by changing the transparency attribute of the line to 50%. The transparency attribute of a line or shape can be found by clicking on the sequence format/shape-outline/more-outline-colours/transparency at the top of the screen
