The trimmer doesn't use a stand alone in-line fuel filter, it has a strainer in the tank most likely and a fuel inlet screen in the carburetor. There is no need to add a filter nor is it recommended as it will restrict fuel flow. .

How do the fuel lines in a weedeater trimmer pe550 hook up inside the gas tank

I have an older model that has a weighted filter in the tank. The filter flops around and can 'fall' into the fuel no matter which way you tilt the trimmer/tank. You should have one in your tank. Feed in the new line and make the end come out the gas cap. Push the filter/weight into the end of the fuel line. Pull the extra fuel line out of the tank to match the original position. You should have cut the new line to approximately the proper or same length as the old fuel line with an angle cut so you could push it into the tank.

My 10 year old weedeater hedge trimmer ran fine last year when I put it away for the season. When I tried to start it this year it wouldn't even fire. I put fresh fuel mix in and a new spark plug and...

I would check for spark and check the fuel lines, especially if fuel is left in it. Also if fuel left in you will have to empty the lines and carburetor or pull it enough to clear. Another thing to consider is that if fuel was left in it that the carburetor may need a rebuild, replacing the diaphrams.

I hope this is helpful for you.

The small green rubber thing sounds like the duckbill vent for a gas cap. Since the gas cap vent sits right over the open hole of the tank, I would check the underside of the gas cap. See if the little rubber vent is there. Normally, they will use a small clear nylon connector to hold the return line inside the tank. The small green thing sure sounds like a fuel cap vent. Here is a link to the diaphragm carburetors site with a tutorial on tuning these little carburetors. I will give you one from Zama and one from Walbro....Zama first.

GHT 225 Trimmer Replaced primer bulb, Starts OK but, will not keep running.

Try adjusting the low side screw on the carb. Back it out about 1/8 of a turn at a time until engine continues to idle. If this this doesn,t solve your problem then you will have to disassemble the carb and replace the diaphragms and fuel filter screen.

I've replaced the fuel lines and installed a carb rebuild kit on my Weedeater GHT 225 hedge trimmer and it still dogs out when I try to get it to full RPM's, sometimes even half choked. The spark plug and...

My best guess is that you replaced the internal parts of the carb, but you did not clean it and adjust it well enough. Take the carb back off and clean out all of the passages with aerosol carb cleaner. Remove each of the adjustment screws and blow cleaner through them as well. Reset them by turning them gently clockwise until they seat, then turn counterclockwise 1.5 turns each. This is a good starting point. Make sure the needle arm in the carb is set at the correct height. If you have a Zama carb, you can use a straight edge to set the height. Lay the edge across the carb (where the diaphragm will be) and check to see that the needle arm is just even with the edges of the carb.. If you have a Walbro carb, you will need to get the Walbro tool (WB 500-13-1) to get the needle arm set to its proper height. An arm that is set too low, will starve the engine and one that is too high will flood it. Also make sure the gaskets are installed in the proper order. Diaphragm side, the gasket goes on first, then the diaphragm. On the metering plate side, the metering pump goes on first (thinner one) then the gasket goes on, then the outer plate.
Don't forget to replace the inlet strainer (small screen).

On to fuel lines. You Weedeater product uses 2 sizes of fuel line. The smaller line must connect to the fuel filter in the tank, and then to the fuel port on the carb that is opposite the diaphragm. The fuel port that is closest to the diaphragm will connect the larger line. This is a return line and will go back to the tank. It may or may not have a small fitting on the end of it in the tank.

Now try a test run again. If it will idle, but not rev up, open up the Lo adjustment screw (closest to the engine) by turning it counterclockwise 1/4 turn. Test run. No change? go another 1/4 turn. If after all this, it is still not running properly, then there is a fault in the carb and it will need to be replaced.

Good luck!

I just put new fuel line on my trimmer now i cant start it not getting fuel the line never fills with fuel but i can **** fuel out so i know it not pinched it a weedeater brand ght-17

Make sure the little valve under the tank if you have one is fully turned clockwise. Make sure there is nothing clogging the tiny screen inside the fuel tank. Check or test your primer bulb it may be leaky. If carb or intake is leaking, you won't get gas either. If you have a filter on this model, try changing it.
