Question about Harman Kardon AVR 745 Receiver

Open Question

My avr 745 reverts to tone out every time I turn it off, even if it shows tone in in the settings menu. If I switch to tone out and back to tone in, it keeps the setting until I turn it off again.

SOURCE: My Denon AVR-1802 is permanently stuck in tone defeat

Is this only when using external inputs? The manual says the Tone Control will not function in Direct Mode. Try Stereo and various DSP surround modes to see if the Tone Control works.

SOURCE: I have a harman/kardon avr 745. When i turn it on it automatically turns back off.

The problem is in the audio driver and output stage of the receiver, check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! the semiconductors are the issue and I recommend a professional for this type of repair.

SOURCE: I have a harman kardon avr 745....looks frozen

My device is AVR 645, but AVR 745 has the same power regulator board and you could check, if the problem is there.
(AVR 645 volume blue light was not pulsating)
When device is turned on, it shows all display indicators,
no blue light on volume button and no response to any remote or front panel buttons.
Reason for failure:
No 3.3V and 5VD voltages.
I checked bridge rectifier D701 on power regulator board.
One of the diodes was shorted. Also fuse F702 was blown.
Original D701 is KBU6G, but because regulator board is a bit difficult to get out, I decided to use KBU8G. The only difference is Amps rating 6A versus 8A.
Be sure to use SR-5-3.15A fuse to replace F702 and use heat sink paste (you know where) when board is reinstalled.
There is large heatsink in the middle of the receiver. Power regulator board is mounted on the right side of that heatsink. It is down there near the front panel and to get it out you most probably first have
to remove two PCBs hindering access to some regulator component screws. Here are pictures to clarify situation:

How do i set the clock

For the 720ef , this is what you need to do.
There are five buttons on the clock panel and from left to right they are:- Minute Minder, Cook time, Ready Time, Plus and Minus.
TO SET THE TIME OF DAY
Press the Cook Time button and the Ready Time button simultaneously. Use the Plus and Minus buttons to set the time.(24hr clock).
TO SELECT AN ALARM TONE.
Press the Minus button to listen to the first tone. Release it and press it again to listen to the second tone etc (3 tones)
Releasing the button after the tone has sounded will automatically set that tone.
SETTING THE MINUTE MINDER.
Press the Minuter Minder button and either the Plus or Minus buttons simultaneously to set the time.
You can cancel the timer at any time by setting it back to 00.00 by using the Minus button.
After setting, the display will revert to the time of day, but by pressing the Minute Minder button again, the display will show the remaining time

Cyberhome DVD-1600
To set the factory default settings just do the following:
  1. Get the DVD-1600 manual
  2. Open to the page which shows you how to set the player to factory default settings
  3. Switch on the TV and click to the channel that you will watch your DVDs
  4. Switch on the DVD player and make sure there is no disc in it - this ensures the DVD is not already in a menu or any other thing
  5. Follow the instructions in the manual to the 'T' although you will be unable to see anything
  6. If you follow the instructions correctly you should get back to 'interlaced mode'. By this time you will be able to see the DVD output on the screen.

The Remote Options button showed Store Demo, but now shows Standard. All memory functions seem to function now. Thanks for your help.

Cant get rear speakers to Work AVR 745 7.2 Surround!!!

Another way to solve this rear speakers problems is to go to the equalizer and have the system recognizes the sound coming out of all speakers. The AVR 745 comes with a microphone on the stick, using that to run the manual equalizer. It is the manual equalizer will set the rear speakers.

Javier2670: Check to see if by accident you change the Storage Device. I have had many times the same problem and it's that we, by no intention, change the storage device or switched. Go to MY STUFF menu. Select for example SOUNDS. Hit the middle multiple bar between the BACK and GO TO options on screen (SOUNDS MENU). Select SWITCH STORAGE DEVICE and select the one device that have it all. SithPitt
