Used self cleaning process on my oven yesterday and today the oven will not turn on, we keep getting message to unlock the oven door even though it is. What can we do?

The oven gets extremely hot during the self-cleaning mode... the door switch might have got stuck in locked position, or broken in locked position (to be replaced), let's hope it's just stuck...which you'll need to work the mechanical lock-unlock latching back and forth to hopefully unstick....and if that doesn't work just re-run self-cleaning process but this time let the oven cool completely before unlocking the door. Hope this helps.

Oven is locked how do i unlock it

UNPLUG THE STOVE.Take the cover off the back of the stove.
On the left rear (facing the back of the range) find the timer motor. It may have stopped. You may be able to free it with a bit of WD40. If not, unplug and insulate the wiring to the timer motor and the microswitch on top of it ( 4 wires). Take the long steel wire off of it and unlatch the oven door.
This probably has something to do with the timer motor on the self cleaning cycle and it is stuck.

Do NOT use the self cleaning function unless you fix the timer motor.

We used the self cleaning option and now we cannot get the oven door open. The lever is stuck in lock mode. Can you give suggestion?

Hello,

IF you can locate the model number tag (bottom left of door opening) you can look up the manual at www.geappliances.com

The only button on your stove that should make the door lock would be the clean button (self clean model) if that is pressed simply hit the clear/off or cancel key and wait for the door to unlock.

IF the self clean option ran for an hour or so, you will have to wait for the oven to cool down before the lock can unlock (safety feature)

Thank you and thanks for using fixya

We self cleaned and the 2 days ago and the door is still locked. Help

The lock is operated by a solenoid and may have stuck due to friction or goo around the magnet core. Try bumping the stove or lifting it 2 inches in front and dropping to the floor. 2 inches will not break anything. There may be a mechanical timer in the self-cleaning circuit... is your gas stove still plugged in and showing signs of power such as ability to ignite top burners electrically? If the timer has failed the door lock solenoid is still activated and there could be a slight hum. Try unplugging the range and see if the door can be opened. The thermal interlock should be free to let the lock retract. If that works replace the timer motor. If solid state (no timer motor) replace circuit board with timer relay.

I have an older frigidaire self cleaning stove and i cannot get it to unlock for some reason it is stuck on lock mode the knob is wore out so it is a little hard to see where i need to get it

have you tried to unplug the stove and see if when you plug it back in it will allow you to unlock the door? you may have a door lock solenoid burnt out on it as well, in which case you will need to replace the door lock mechanism.

After self cleaning cycle, oven door will not open. the lever won't move.

in the rear of the stove there might be a wax motor that has melted not allowing the stove to be unlocked. or a stuck switch.
all too common with self clean ranges.
unplug stove, remove rear panel and begon looking for any type of heat damage, or any switches that may have been stuck closed.
i see this at least once per week

How do you unlock a whirlpool stove if it locks manual

I think you mean if it locks automatically not "manual". There should be small print next to one of the buttons that includes the word "lock". Hold this button down until the indicator goes out.

Jenn-Air stove locked

After the lock indicator light goes out, move the door lock lever to the left. The oven door can now be opened. Turn the selector and temperature knobs from clean to off AFTER THE DOOR IS UNLOCKED. If the temperature knob is turned to off BEFORE the door is unlocked, the door will not open. Forcing the lock will damage the lock mechanism. If this should happen, return the temperature knob back to CLEAN, unlock the door, THEN turn the temperature knob off. Unlock my stove

On many freestanding stoves the lock motor is located in the right rear (looking from the front) with a long rod connected to the lock. remove the motor and unhook the rod from the motor cam. If it is a built-in over, sometimes bending a coat hangar into a hook and sliding from the right side into the lock you can unlock the door.
