Oh geez, you have some work ahead of you.

I would somehow acquire another video card (ask a friend :)). Put that in and see if your computer boots up. If that still doesn't work its either the CPU, or the Motherboard.

I would take apart the heatsink, remove the CPU, reseat it and see if it works.

Let me know! ill help

Slow start up and beeps a couple of times

The beep pattern tells you what is wrong. Search Google for the exact 2 short beeps, 2 long beeps, etc. Could be bad RAM chip or bad motherboard or video card, etc. The beep pattern will tell you what needs to be fixed.

Have you tried connecting your PC to another monitor? I'm not seeing the monitor getting any signal. Also, is the computer making any clear internal beeping patterns? Like 2 quick beeps or long beeps etc?

Diagnosing problems with your computer can be difficult, especially if you do not have any visual cues to guide you.

Fortunately, computer makers, like Hewlett Packard, make the job easier by using beep codes that computer owners can use to determine the source of the problem.

By carefully listening to these beeps, computer owners can find the malfunctioning piece of hardware and resolve the issue.

Look for the user guide that came with your computer.

Having the user guide available will make it easier to track the meaning of the beep codes.

Most HP user guides have a section covering the various beeping patterns and what each one means.

Start your computer and carefully listen to the beeping.

HP computers use both long and short beeps, so listen carefully to determine whether each beep is short or long.

Shut down your computer and restart it.

Listen again to the beep codes to be sure which pattern you are hearing.

Write down the beep pattern and compare it to the beeping patterns listed in your HP user guide.

Restart your computer again and look for any messages on the screen.

Depending on the nature of your problem you might see visual clues, or the screen might remain blank.

Check the status of the LED lights on the front of your HP computer as it is starting up and giving its beep codes.

For instance, a red LED light often indicates a faulty memory module or an overheating processor.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. - rules

make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery are securely seated

on some motherboards Cmos batteries are soldered in

Test all power and data leads that attach from motherboard to your hard drive IDE SATA

make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

if its a flat 40 pin ide it will be the first to fail

check the graphics card is seated properly with no dust in the socket you might have to remove it to check for dust reinstall it

restart your computer the found new hardware wizard should activate

a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and to its continue its cycle and to have and end to function

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy drive have secure make sure the connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

a computer needs all electric current and computer data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work properly so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

also check the keyboard for secure dust free connection ps2 and or usb

also check the CPU central processing unit for secure dust free seating and thermal paste

hope this helps

My computer beeps when I start it up how do I stop it

The beeps you hear are BIOS Beep Codes. The computer's method of telling you something is wrong, and an area to look into for it.

It is a pattern. A series of beeps, then a pause, then a repeat.
It is a Code.

Listen to the beep code. Post it back in a Comment.

Hello im trying to upgade the PCs memory. I inserted "DDR400 1GB CL3" to the memory slot ,with no other memorys prsent. the computer does not start. only peeps a few times. I checked the...

Remove the "new" stick of RAM, and re-insert your "old" stick of RAM, and start it.
If it still beeps, how many times does it beep, and is it a "short-long-short" type of pattern?
The number of beeps is important.

Does the manual for the motherboard indicate that it supports a maximum of 256MB per stick?
512MB per stick? 1024MB per stick? What's the size of the "old" stick of RAM?

Check that the video-card is properly "seated" into its slot, because an improperly-seated card (knocked loose when you changed the RAM) could cause the beeping.

If a computer keeps beeping when i try to start it up , is that the hard drive?

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

No, often its memory or video card. The beeping pattern tells of the problem.

I would remove the memory modules from the machine, turn on again without memory, it will beep, turn off, unplug and reinsert one of the memory modules into the computer and turn on, it should work, if it doesn't repeat with another memory module.

if the problem is not solved count the beeps and are they long or short? and I'll know more.

My poweredge emits a contiual beep and don't turn on . thanks

If your PowerEdge will not boot but only beeps on start, there are a number of things that could be the issue. One thing that can be done is to document the beep pattern and use that to look up the issue or post the beep pattern here.
