Question about Philips DVD750VR DVD Player/VCR

Remote stopped working

We have a simple installation at our vacation home. We only use the DVD.
The remote stopped working as though the batteries are dead (but, not). We also have a remote for the Phillips TV and Dish satellite. After pressing "DVD" on the TV Remote and "DVD" on the DVD remote the "pause" worked. Similarly, I could turn the DVD off and on. No other DVD remote button works. (A disc can be played using the "Play" and "Stop" controls on the player.) The only hint in the manual that seems applicable is a dirty infra red sensor. Do these symptoms sound right for that affliction? Because the remote stopped working as described suddenly, I have the feeling that a guest pressed something on one of the three remotes in use that put things out of synch. (I tried unplugging and replugging the power source). Please help.

The player is at our vacation house and we won't be going up there until the weekend (August 17).
I will try this solution then. In the meantime, can I have other solution possibilities?

I will try this too, can solutions keep coming until I get back to the problem site.

The remote for my Magnavox dvd/vcr player/recorder stopped working. The batteries were corroded. I cleaned the terminals and tried new batteries but the remote seems dead.

Deteriorating batteries can have an adverse effect on device circuitry. In short, your remote control probably has been destroyed.

My remote won't work

Many remote controls freeze up and appear "Dead", but some can be instantly brought back to normal operation by following 4 simple steps.

Use these steps on OEM (original equipment) remote controls for TVs, DVDs, Audio Systems, Satellite and Home Theaters.
Note: If you follow these steps on a universal remote control, you will need your universal's owner's manual to reprogram it.

1) Remove all batteries from the remote
2) While the batteries are out of the remote, push and release every button on the remote control one at a time, until all buttons have been pressed and released at least once. This action drains the capacitors in the remote's circuits and causes the remote's brain to go back to factory defaults.
3) Re-install the batteries, taking care to insure each battery is installed correctly. Use new batteries if you are unsure about the batteries you removed.
4) If this Remote Re-Start procedure is going to work, your remote should now be back to normal. Try it.
If your remote works, Great. If not, you can shop for a new OEM remote control at Remotes.com 1 800 Remotes Factory original replacement remote controls

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
-----------------------------
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.
If it works, Great!

Remote control has stopped working

If you have replaced the batteries with KNOWN GOOD ones, observed the proper polarity when re-installing the batteries AND made sure the remote is in DVD "mode" (if it is a multi-remote) when trying to use it, the remote is bad. Replace the remote.

The precise remote issue

Try holding down the wall button. If this does work the door as you hold it down then the problem is misaligned sensors. If it is not that then more than likely the logic board is not good. I have never seen a whisper drive that has a door bell button and only came with one remote though???Thanks BB

Coby 626 DVD Player Remote Not Working

I have a COBY DVD player TF-DVD7005 that hadn't been used in a while. When I charged the battery and the light went from red to green, nothing happens when I push play and the DVD doesn't spin. Could the battery be dead despite the green light and where would I get a new one?
