Just make sure the oil level in the crank case is OK, then just run it. The smoke will burn off once the muffler heats up, but it may take a while. The smoke is annoying, and not all so environmentally friendly, but it won't do the mower any harm. Just because the oil leaked into where it wasn't supposed to be, it doesn't mean that you have increased the ability for oil to leak that way. Good luck, Al K

Trouble starting, blows smoke, high revs, fuel leak out of exhaust.

first push starting it was bad. sounds like a stuck exhaust valve. and I think you had a dead ignition coil causing 1 cylinder not to fire, and it was fill with gas ,and then you forcing it to start did more damage

Clean the air filter (foam type) in warm soap water then apply some oil soaked in, it will smoke afterwards for a short time. Or possible minor adjustment too the mixture screw on the side of the carburetor spring loaded. Allan

Lawnmower stored for a year tipped up and all oil leaked out -- Won't start now.

You have most likely gotten oil on the coil, You need to remove the pull start assembly and you will see the coil/flywheel, check for any oil contamination which you can clean up with brake/carb cleaner.

I stored my Briggs and Stratton Murray 4.5 Lawnmower at an angle and oil came out the exhaust.

Just let the mower sit on the level for a while. Then be sure to check the oil level before starting the engine. It'll probably blow some oil smoke, but then it should clear up and be fine. You should only tip your mower in one direction, ever. That is down on the handlebars; up on the front. This way, the fluids have no where to run. Also be sure the gas tank is not full or fuel will run out the vent in the cap.

Stale fuel is normally the cause for bad starting after the winter, fuel has a very short shelf life before it goes stale, drain the fuel tank and carb float bowl, refill with freash fuel and try again

most likely you have oil on top of the pistons and to much has gotten into the intake and exhaust valves. remove the spark plug, clean it or replace it, than pull the starter rope several times to exhaust some of the oil inside. install plug and start the mower. it might smoke some but should clear up.

Low coolant and oil smells like gas. No white/blue

let your car idle go back to the tail pipe if it seems to be steaming alot , and or smells like antifreeze then you have a head gasket problem or a gasket leak alowing in directly into your engine
