I have a Biostar Motherboard K8M800-M7A and i just recently bought a kingston ram memory 1GB 400mhz KVR400X64C3A. Everywhere i look for on the internet says they are compatible but i dont get them to work. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Thank you for the quick answer. I can't understand how it is possible that both memorys (crucial and Kingston) with the exact same specs, one does work and the other doesn't. It makes no sense at all. Is there any modificaton that I can test altering Dram configuration on the bios ?

Hello,
You are correct, this motherboard can use either 333mhz DDR (PC2700) or 400mhz DDR (3200) chips.
You may have a bad chip. Also make sure you are not mixing this chip with another of another speed. Its not good practise to mix 333mhz and 400mhz though some motherboards will still work like that.
Your best bet for compatibility is crucial DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR400 • 2.6V • 128Meg x 64 •
Personally I have had bad luck with kingston ram myself.

    Hello,

Your default settings in the bios should be all you need. You could try updating your bios if there is a new version out. Sometimes that helps. Also, have you tried putting the chip in the other slot?

Both slots and still nothing. Upgraded the bios earlier and still nothing. It must be the chip. I already talk with the salesman to see if he can replace it for another model. I will let you know.

Sounds good. I hope you have some success.

    Cheers

Why does memory upgrade for biostar k8m800-mam2 motherboard cause memory error beeps?

I would verify that the memory you're using is actually working properly.
Try to boot to the new stick and see if it works.
If not, it doesn't work.
If it does, you may need to replace the original stick with the same stick that you are trying to use now.

go www.biostar.com.tw if your mb is biostar... otherwise go whatever site your motherboard`s label indicates.

I could link you directly but you have posted two models (K8M800-M7A and P4VM800) and the second one is not in the biostar list...
