I have already changed the chassis PC board and no difference. I have a complete service manual for it and I am an electrical engineer so I know I can do this. Previously I swapped the badge and then swapped the controller from the drawer that works and the problem did not move. Next I am looking at the isolator. I guess I need someone who really knows these units. Can you help further?

I swapped the badge stop/start buttons with the working one from the door above and no change. I then swapped the controller from the drawer above and the problem still did not move. I then changed the chassis module PC board but that didn't help. Now I am looking at the isolator. I have the complete service manual and I am an electrical engineer so I know I can do this. The lower drawer does have the red LEDs working and I can switch cycles. I cannot send the bottom drawer into the diagnostic check. Just no response from the front badge buttons.

    thank you

the unit is about 4 years old and it had a 2 year warranty. I would appreciate any help you could give me. I am willing and capable of diging into anything.

    Thanks

    Thanks Rick

Yes I already have that tech service manual that you sent and I have been through all of the troubleshooting sequences that they list. My problem is that the badge has NO LIGHTS at all. No blinking, no red locked lights, nothing. When you open the door you get an audible beep and the red lights inside the drawer indicating the wash cycle chosen are lit and they work but when you close the door there are no lights on the badge and you get no response from any of the 3 buttons, sound or lights. Cannot send it into the diagnostic mode.

    Thanks
    Mike

I guess I figured it out. there is an "isolator" or "protector" that is a link between the badge buttons and the controller. I switched the top and bottom drawer parts and the problem moved to the other door so I will replace that "protector". Thanks anyway for trying.

Hello, this is the schematic for your entire machine in case you ever do need it http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kitchenaid-Parts/Dishwasher-Parts/Model-KUDD01DPPA0/0593/0130000?pathTaken=&prst=0&shdMod=KUDD01DPPA0 in your manual it would say what the start stop badge means If this unit is new do not attempt to repair the unit as it would be warrantied and you would void your warranty and I think it is still warrantied seeing how there is no manual online available yet if your unit is not warrantied and you require further diagnosis please message me back and I will look further into your situation Thanks Rick
p.s the stop badge could mean you have a blockage in your drain area but need clarification on your warranty information first Thanks again Rick

the blinking start/stop badge correlates to an error code that the unit is giving How many times and over how much of a period of time would be how we can track down what the issue is with your unit also if any other lights are blinking as well I await your reply. Also do not replace parts in your unit until you have properly diagnosed the situation you would just be throwing your money away and which parts have you replaced so far Thanks Rick

this is also the technical service manual for your machine as well https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/Sr...$FILE/DRAWERDW.pdf takes awhile to upload too. assure also that you have been through section 3 on that start stop button not being in a lock postion as well also have you checked the heating element if the element shows a fault the unit will not go any further into any cycle There is component testing of each part towards the back of the provided in the link above also under diagnostic and troubleshooting section it also tells how to have the machine display the error code so you can determine exactly where the error is coming from I await your reply thanks Rick

for power to only one tub it also states in the troubleshooting section

    1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.

    2. Check connections to chassis PC board,

    controller and element.

    3. Check resistance of power resistor; replace

    if necessary.

    4. Replace controller if necessary

I await your reply thanks Rick

    1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.

    2. Check connections to machine and chassis

    PC board.

    Faulty EMI Filter

    1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.

    2. Check resistance of the EMI filter (<1 ω);

    replace if necessary.

    Faulty Chassis PCB

    1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.

    2. Check connections on chassis PCB; replace

Can you confirm if the controller and chassis board from the lower drawer (the one not working) work in the upper drawer. That way you may be able to isolate the fact that the problem may actually be in the wiring harness of the bottom drawer.

What drawers are you talking about on a kitchenaid dishwasher?

I have a two drawer KitchenAid KUDD01DPPA. Upon pushing the start button on either drawer the dishwashers will start. then within a minute they turn red and beep non stop and the dishwashers do not run

Usually this indicates a leak. Open the bottom drawer and look underneath and behind it in the base of the frame and see if there is water sitting in there. If so, dry it out with towels. Once all the water is dried out run the dishwasher again. If the same thing happens and the water returns you will have to find the source of the leak. Sometimes its just a temporary leak from a tall item obstructing the lids from closing and sealing all the way.

Have a kitchenaid double drawer dishwasher. While running the bottom drawer the top drawer fills up with water. Had the filler valve on the garbage disposal changed. Issue still continues. Any suggestions

Mine does the same thing! (Same model) I've finally discovered that if I start the bottom drawer first and the top drawer just after that doesn't happen as much. Also, if I run the garbage disposal (and water obviously) while it's starting (I will try to do my hand washing while the dishwasher is getting going) that seems to keep this from happening as well. I've given up running just one drawer, which totally defeats the purpose of buying the 2 drawer dishwasher. But it does keep me from having to bail the bottom drawer :-( I'd like a better solution to this too!

Our kitchenaid drawer type dishwasher is open the locked light is on and we can not get it to clear or run

switch it of and leave for say 10mins and switch back on and see if it resets,if not push and hold the on/off button for about 30 secounds it should reset if not then the drawer switch is broken and needs replaced.adrian,,,,,,

Both drawers are stuck in the on position, both

The water sensor is malfunctioning. It believes that there is still water, so the pumps run and the washer will not continue on its cycle. replace the water sensor, or dry it out so it functions properly

Kitchenaid double-drawer dishwasher will not start

i just installed a used dishwasher. It filled up with water then stopped. The lights are still on as far as the cycles but nothing is happening. I did the factory diagnostic test and the service diagnostic test, not sure how long each test was supposed to take because after it seemed to go through each cycle by the lights on the front nothing else happened. I waited over 30minutes because I didn't know how long this was going to take. When all the lights on the front went out I tried to turn it on like to run a wash cycle and nothing is happening and the bottom is still full on water. HELP!!
