Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have an Intertherm Softheat baseboard heater model #EP1380-12. It has been in regular use for more than a few years. I notice lately that it gurgles or gives off a boiling sound when the element is on. There are no leaks or physical damage to the unit. The thermostat cycles as usual. What is causing the noise? Is there any danger?

I have the same (I think) electric baseboard heater (no, it's not a boiler system). Actually, we have three. Recently, one started making the loud noises, then it stopped working two days ago.

I'm wondering if the original poster ever found more information, or if anyone else has an idea. There is still power to the heater -- the little light on the knob is on. There's just no heat.

Yes it is acceptable and common practice. You do not need a neutral on a 220 Volt circuit. Just wrap it with black electrical tape so anyone who gets into the wiring later will know that both are hot. This is accepted by the National Electrical Code.
