    I removed the hard drive and rebooted the console, It gave me a message that it can't find the Hard Drive. But when I tried the updated the system to Ver 2.42 the instruction was to disconnect the hard drive and connect a flash drive with the system update on it. But the Console kept on displaying the message that the system can't find the hard drive. Is there any functionality when the HD is not connect that allows me to setup the system? Let me know what you think.

Hello.
This could be a major system problem. But in the 10 machines I have fixed with the same problem, it was the hard drive. Get a new or refurbished hard drive and replace it. When you power it up it will say that the hard drive needs to be formated and you click yes. It will for mat the hard drive and restart it's self. Then you should be good to game!! I hope this helps!! Good luck.

    The system will not boot without a hard drive. I normally buy them for pretty cheap on eBay and they come with a warranty. Or you can go to your local shop and get one. Most likely the "buffer pad" that is in your hard drive came loose and is jammed under the sensors that read the disc Untill you get a hard drive that works, you will not be able to do anything with the PS3. I hope this helps! Good luck!!

It sounds like you hard drive is starting to crash. Try your HD in a different PS3 and see if it does the same thing. The HD in a PS3 is the same thing that is in a laptop computer and they go bad just like the laptops do.

My ps3 wont boot past the title screen!!

If you can get to it without it freezing use the System Restore function under:

System->Settings>Restore PS3

If you can't get to it because of freezing you should put your hard drive into another PS3. It will see it as a new drive and prompt you to format it. Afterwards put it back into your PS3 and it will do the same thing again.

It doesn't matter which PS3 yours or the one you put your hard drive into, they're all the same as far as the process goes.

This will fix it for sure.

It might be a HDD issuse. Rec> swapping ur HDD( any 2.5 ' that is used in laptops will do) and if that does not work then you have a problem with ur ps3.

Ps3 freezes after start up

Hey guys, same thing happened to me. In case you're looking at this site like I recently had been, I just wanted to post a little update. I bought my PS3 on the Christmas of 2007, and it stopped working after I played an online round of Tekken: Dark Resurrection on July 5. It froze on the wavy part of the introduction of the PS3 system. So what you do is:

1. Press the PS3 "touch" power button and hold it until you hear two buttons "beep"
2. Connect your USB cord to your ps3 controller and press the center button when instructed on the screen.
3. Choose the third choice on the screen which says something about restoring the data (sorry i cant remember i know its the third choice though)
4. When it asks you its question say "Yes." and it will begin the restoring process with the download bar.
5. When its complete it may make you do step 4 once more, so just do it again, or any more times it asks, until it finally restarts properly. ( I had to do it two times)

I hope this helps you guys, it helped me the first day it stopped working!
